Ferguson: Ronaldo could play for Millwall, Messi couldn't

EX-Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo would be well-suited to playing for Millwall.

Ferguson believes Ronaldo is a better player than Barcelona's Lionel Messi because he could score a hat-trick for the Lions – whereas Messi couldn't.

The 73-year-old said the "brave" Real Madrid superstar would be able to cope with the physical demands of playing at a ground like The Den, but Messi is "a Barcelona player".

Ferguson told the BBC: "Ronaldo is tough. "People say 'who is the best player in the world' and plenty of people quite rightly say Messi. You can't dispute that opinion.

"But the thing about Ronaldo… Ronaldo could play for Millwall, QPR, Doncaster Rovers or anyone and he'd score a hat-trick. I'm not sure Messi could do it.

"Ronaldo's got two feet, he's quick, he's good in the air and he's brave, though Messi's brave too of course. I just think Messi is a Barcelona player."

Is Ferguson right? Could Messi handle Millwall?

@thecolumbusblock: yes he's insulted us, qpr and Doncaster. He's also wrong that Messi couldn't score a hat trick for us. IMO he's a better all round player than Ronaldo.

He would have to adapt his free kicks to the style we are all used to. Aiming at the upper tier and the corner flags.

Obviously has a soft spot for us, so maybe he could come out of retirement and assist super Neil ?

So Gregory must be better than Messi then.
