JIMMY Abdou has been named Millwall's Player of the Year for the 2014-15 season.

The midfielder will be presented with his award – which he has won once before in 2011-12 – prior to today's home match against Derby County.

Speaking to the club's official site, Abdou said: "I am honoured and of course very proud but it is something I didn't expect or even really think about.

"It has been a very difficult season, and we are still fighting to stay in the Championship, so that is what is on my mind.

"But thank you to everyone for this, it really means a lot."

Abdou, who has made 35 appearances this season, scored a rare goal in a 2-0 win over Wigan earlier this month – his first for two years.

Good on you, Jimmy. A proper example of graft and passion and one of the hardest working players I can remember. Well deserved.

According to a lot of posters on here he 'isn't good enough for this level'. Well done Jimmy, every team needs an engine room and you are a model professional and a Millwall legend.

Whilst I am happy with the outcome of this result,, I would have liked to have had a vote.

Well done to the MSC for arranging a truly democratic vote. NOT
