Millwall players to train more during international break

NEIL Harris has organised extra training sessions for his players during the international break to ensure they are fully prepared for the final run-in.

The Lions do not have a fixture to fulfil this weekend but Harris and assistant Dave Livermore will be hard at work with the squad at Calmont Road.

Harris wants to make the most of the ten-day gap between games and says his players are “on board” with his decision to spend more time at the training ground.

“I’ve changed things slightly,” Harris told the News. “We’re bringing the player in for a little bit more training than was originally planned. They understand that.

“We’re a new set-up now and we’re trying to change the style slightly, so the lads are happy to come in for some extra sessions.

“That’s not a punishment, I just believe that we need it and the boys are on board with it.

“We have to balance that with a little bit of time off because some of the players have played a lot of games recently and they need a break to recuperate ahead of the final push.

“But we’ve certainly mixed it up a little bit by making sure we do plenty of sessions.”

Harris has been encouraged by the three performances Millwall have produced under his leadership – but won’t be totally satisfied until he registers his first win.

“There are definitely positives and we can all feel that,” he added. “The players certainly feel it because they’re getting a better vibe from the fans, who are pleased with what they’re seeing.

“I certainly get the feeling around the club and the training ground that we’re moving in the right direction, but we’re absolutely desperate to win some games and that’s the bottom line.”

I agree we can only get 3 points per game now to give us any chance of survival. Sadly, div 1 is looming. Push the dislike, but hand on heart who honestly thinks we will remain in the championship?

Beat Charlton and Rotherham lose and it's game on.
Lose to Charlton then I reckon we are down but we are not going to lose.
