MILLWALL have signed Gary Taylor-Fletcher on loan until the end of the season.

The experienced Leicester City forward trained with the Lions this morning and will go straight into their squad for tomorrow's home clash with Fulham.

Speaking to the club's official site about his new addition, manager Ian Holloway said: "It's been a few years since I worked with Fletch and I'm pleased to have him here at Millwall.

"He has a really good brain and I like the way he plays.

"He links play brilliantly and can play in any one of the four forward positions, which is wide left, wide right, up the middle or behind the striker.

"Fletch knows all of those roles really well.

"He has been at Leicester and helped them to get promoted. They have moved on a little bit and I believe we can use his experience to our benefit."

To think we almost got relegated ....trust the cheeky one to keep us all guessing up to the last, and then play his ace......Happy days are here again.

'Emergency Loan' that's one of the biggest understatements I've ever heard.

Blimey, looking at that picture he looks like he's been training with the 'fatness' trainer we had with Lomas!

He's actually shed quite a bit of lard lately and is pretty fit,if he has half the ability he had a couple of years ago then he will do a job for us.An intelligent player that could help Gregory a lot IF Ollie plays 2 up top?

@the verminhater: Yes, looking at the picture on the Official site he has slimmed down loads. Just hope you're right regarding the ability.

Can't see this fella charging down the wings. Looks like he's been brought in to do the role behind the striker or more hopefully the 'strikers'.
Anyway, let's give him a chance.

He's not a 20 a season striker but does seem to have a knack of scoring important ones. Welcome to the den Gary.

His intelligent play might just be what we're missing going forward.... Can't really go wrong with a loan for him! Couple of years ago we'd have all been waxing lyrical about him coming in! Let's get behind him and see what he can do!

The only tactic or formation Holloway ain't played yet, is,
walk the ball into the net.
With this forward line we have of OAP's,
one can only assume, literally, that 'walking' the ball into the net
is on the cards for Saturday.
You never know, it might just fool Fulham.

@lowdown: That is nonsense. At 33 players are still at their peak. 34 they start to lose it but 33 is still OK for a striker

Apologies for repeating this but I posted it under the Bailey story before this appeared, I found this article from last summer, a quote from GTF:
"The gaffer knows he can play me in midfield, in a three, I think one of things with having me on the pitch is he can change the formation easily as I can play in a number of positions."

That suggests that we might have the second striker that we've all been crying out for he doesn't have to be prolific, just help us to convert some of the chances we're creating.

There's quite a few fan comments on there, not all of it complimentary(!) but this one stood out:
"Despite his stature GTF has some of the silkiest and deftest of touches in the squad. He can hold the ball up, play one touch football and has the vision to deliver it long. He seems to be well balanced when receiving the ball which gives him a split second more time to control the ball and spot the pass. Chris Wood would do well to study videos of GTF at work, if he could learn those skills he would be a far better player. GTF should really mentor him."

Here's the full article (sorry if it's already been posted, didn't go through all the comments on the GTF story)

We need someone to get us 10 goals in what's left of the season. This is the last roll of the dice. Let's give the guy a chance and hope it clicks. Of late we have been wasteful of the few chances we create (Gregory biggest offender) so maybe a bit of experience and quality might just convert a few and get the goals we need to stay up.

Unless someone at Millwall has been playing with photoshop, he looks like he's cut right down (weight) and looks to me in quite good shape!

I actually think this could be a real shrewd move for us, he clearly has ability as Leicester gave him a contract extension last summer and I think he really can make more of a difference than most of our fans think. As a mate of mine has just said 'it doesn't matter how old he is or what he looks like, all that matters is he helps keep us in The Championship'

Welcome to Millwall Gary, good luck dealing with the 'fat' comments and just let your football do the talking, give us your all and grab a few goals!

@GLASSHALFULL: WOOLFORD biggest offender when missing good chances, Huddersfield when we were 3-1 down, 8 yards out ,goalie to beat, left peg straight into the crowd, BRUM,hit the bar, LEEDS , in the car park. All clear one on one chances, GREGORY 's not had such clear cut .

This time last year we were(me included) slating IH for signing a 36 year old in Carlos Edwardes, so let's give GTF a go and hopefully he can be as successful as Carlos!

Joking aside, I do rate this guy and the fact that Leicester signed him for their Prem campaign must mean that he has something about him. I can see Fabrinni moving out to the wing if GTF plays behind the striker.

Before I say anything I think this is a good signing, Ollie know's him and his attitude he has done it at this level and at this stage and in this position we need to reduce, as much as possible, the unknown factors in a move for a player, so a known quantity is, in my view, a better bet than taking a chance.
After saying that the point about him getting a contract in the Prem' this year was, so the Leicester City fans say, down to a clause in his contract which gave him a years extension if he played 20 games last year. The general feeling from them was great player, loves a burger, but they will not miss him.

@horseworrier: That's matchday squads not the full first team squad. So long as we don't name 6 loan players at any one time for a game, we will be alright.
