JOHN Marquis has extended his loan spell with League One side Gillingham until the end of the season.

Marquis, whose contract with Millwall expires in the summer, has scored three goals in four appearances for the Kent side.

Speaking last week, Gills coach Coach Andy Hessenthaler said: "The fans have seen what he can do and he has been brilliant for us.

"We need that type of player with a never say die attitude. That is the culture of the football club.

"He has been terrific."

At his young age and the lack of real opportunities he has had at the Den, I think he deserves another chance with us, and if he does the business at the Gill's there is no reason why he can't up his game to the Championship. We haven't seen what he is capable of yet.

@glyngo: Unfortunately he's not so young anymore and we have seen what he has to offer - that's why he keeps going out to lower league clubs.

We haven't had a manager that thinks he isn't good enough and has wanted him gone permanently, must be doing something right in training!!
