Stuart Pearce dismissed by Forest after defeat to Millwall

NOTTINGHAM Forest have parted company with manager Stuart Pearce following Millwall's 1-0 victory at the City Ground on Saturday.

Pearce was summoned for crisis talks by Kuwaiti owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi this morning after Ricardo Fuller's late goal handed the Lions all three points.

The Reds were the early pace-setters in the Championship but have won just three of their last 21 league games, a run which has now cost Pearce his job.

The likes of Owen Coyle, Sven Goran Eriksson, John Barnes, George Burley and Steve Coppell have all been sacked by their clubs after losing to Millwall in recent years.

I don't feel too proud of this reputation of so many managers being sacked after losing to us. That means Everyone thinks we are so crap that if we beat them it's a disaster for them and someone has to go, after all you wouldn't get sacked if you lost to a really top team would you.just a thought.

      @bordersarebest0170:
I'm sure it's more to do with our league position borders and the run they have been on. Add to that the fact that they have lost at home without scoring and losing to a team in the bottom three and bingo.
I think it's purely a coincedence with the others too.
Pearce I'm sure would of been sacked yesterday even if that result was against a top ten team.
Think the appointment of Freedman is not a good one for what it's worth.

@SE17 Lion: agree..holloway can count himself lucky that we got a chairman who will back the manager..cos if he was belguim olly would have gone a while ago..
some of these chairman we get over here these days see a football club as a hobby and dont think of the people who know about football..namely the thousands of fans or staff.
we have a yank who cares deeply about our club..and fans ..

If we survive this year and progress next, it would be a very good reflection on the club and must make recruiting both players and staff much easier, rather than being a hire and fire type operation. Management is a bit like the team it there must be a constant where all members fell secure in there employment which is where, I think, a lot of our troubles this year have come from with so many players out of contract.

It's a sad case of ex pro , taking on the mantel of manager and failing. Beside he did not do much for England . Will be joining the match of the day panel .

@benzo: It is a shame that British managers aren't able to hold on to their jobs. When you think back say 10-20 yrs ago, all the top teams had British managers. Now, the whole of the Premiership is either owned or managed by non-Brits and a large percentage of the players are too. Unless I'm mistaken, the Arsenal team that finished at full time today had no British players at all on the pitch. All of this was supposed to improve the English team...

Don't feel to sorry for him in the crazy world of football you can ruin a club only to be given a chance to do the same thing again a few months later whilst being offered a s*** load of money .
They should have stuck will Billy Davies always liked him i would have loved to have seen him as our manager a class act who always spoke well our club .

@mfc 2u: yeah I agree, should have kept with billy Davies , and a couple of managers before. This is what can happen if you keep sacking you manager and probably why berylson won't sack his, COS IT AINT ALWAYS THE ANSWER.

Quite funny really that Pearce made his first appearance in front of the crowd after the announcement of his appointment as manager at our match at the City Ground last season, and he gets sacked after the final whistle this Saturday. Symmetry. I quite like that . . . .

Repeat of that would be fantastic.
