SHAUN Cummings has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with Millwall after passing a medical this morning.

The right back joins from Rreading for an undisclosed fee and becomes the Lions' fourth new addition of the January transfer window.

As first revealed by NewsAtDen, a deal for the 25-year-old has been in the pipeline since last week.

"Nigel Gibbs has worked with Shaun before so he knows exactly what we are getting," manager Ian Holloway told the club's official site.

"He can play at wing-back or at right-back and he can run all day long. He can attack and he played in a team that got promoted out of this division.

"We're delighted to have Shaun on board as I think he can be a real asset for us over the short and long-term.

"He gives us a new option and as a player he can contribute in defence and in attack."

Cummings made 71 league appearances for the Royals after moving to the Berkshire club from Chelsea's academy in 2009.

"This is a very good club and that is why I came here," the defender said. "I'm very pleased to be here.

"The position in the league isn't where we should be so hopefully as a club we can step on.

"It is going to be an important time between now and the end of the season in getting the club out of the zone it is in and progressing forward.

"From a personal point of view I want to hit the ground running straight away and play how I know I can play.

"I'm a hard worker and I never like to lose.

"I like to get forward and get crosses in but as a defender I also want to keep clean sheets and do well in my one-on-one duels."
