Ex-Millwall striker Easter snapped up by Bristol Rovers

JERMAINE Easter has signed for Conference side Bristol Rovers.

The 31-year-old, who became a free agent after cancelling his contract with Millwall last week, has penned a long-term deal with the Gas.

Easter, a former Wales international, turned down offers from clubs in League One and League Two in order to move closer to his family in Cardiff.

Rovers are second in the Conference table, six points behind first-placed Barnet.

Manager Darrell Clarke said: "Although Jermaine was keen to move to a club closer to his Cardiff home, he has come to us for all the right reasons.

"However the fact that he was keen to be closer to home, it gave us an advantage when it came to signing a player of his calibre.

"He had a number of league clubs interested in signing him and the fact that I know him from our days at Hartlepool was a big help.

"He's enjoyed a good career since then but still has a lot to offer and it's a really good signing for us."

Good luck to the bloke. He always put a shift in and scored a few off the bench. Not Championship standard but will do a good job for Bristol Rovers.

Good luck to him - he'll do well at that level.

    Chaplow, Bailey,

@benzo: Why do we need to keep Bailey? he's never bloody available, we need someone who can manage more than a handful of games a season, when he is available he is never match fit and that is without mentioning the sendings off. Get shot free up the wages and put someone in who we can rely on.

@NICKOLA: Fuller - no way will he go if you read the OS saying he is the best thing since sliced bread.
Holloway is away with the clouds.

@NICKOLA: Unfortunately, Forde is on a longer contract, but maybe some mugs will be interested in an 'international' goalkeeper

    Yes, good luck to you.
This moves shows a lot of what is wrong with IH though. Not the fact that you give someone a contract at the start of season who you now deem not suitable/good enough for us but because it was only a month or so back when you are telling us about how he deserves a place in the first team - "scored for the reserves" etc. Then he's back in the first team squad and coming on in a game (and scoring !) to then disappear again. This type of scenario has happened way too many times this season with different players regardless of whether people have had good or bad games.

@ketchup: Good point, Ketchup. The players don't know whether they are coming or going (literally) and that's not going to help with confidence and team cohesion

Good luck Jermaine you are well out of it and hope your next manager is not as clueless as IH.

Wasn't given a run of games by IH that's the problem I'm sure he IH put all the names in a hat and picked them out like the Lottery. I have never seen a manager that is so inconsistent when it comes to team selection. Weird man

Good luck Jermaine I will always remember your first touch after coming on at Charlton away a couple of seasons back . I agree with some of the posts above mixed messages from the manager no wonder the players are all over the place .
