Holloway: Defeat is not an option for Millwall at Blackpool

IAN Holloway believes Millwall's trip to Blackpool is a must-not-lose game.

The Lions boss says he is "really unhappy with things at the moment" and is working night and day to make changes to his squad while the transfer window is open.

But events on the field will take priority tomorrow when Holloway's side come up against the Tangerines, who are rooted to the foot of the table.

Victory could lift Millwall out of the relegation zone.

Asked whether three points are a must, Holloway said: "Not getting beaten is a must because at the very least we have to keep that gap between us and them.

"We need to gain some confidence and get something out of the game. If we can win, it would be fantastic.

"It's a vital game. If we can get a decent result, that will put us back on course. An horrendous result will get Blackpool closer to us.

"We've got 22 games left to sort this out – thankfully it's not only eight.

"I'm really unhappy with things at the moment and we should be doing a damn sight better with our current players.

"Lots of bits against Bradford last week I was really pleased with but lots of bits I wasn't pleased with. That's indicative of what we're doing."

Blackpool look relegation certainties but they have improved marginally since Lee Clarke joined as manager.

"Whatever Blackpool were doing at the start of the season, they're doing it a little bit better now," Holloway added.

"And whatever we were doing at the start of the season, we're doing it worse now, so we've got a point to prove.

"I've got a point to prove because I'm not happy with where we are at the moment.

"I'm not happy where I am with my team so I'm going to make this feel more like my team by making some changes and help the group we've got re-focus.

"We need to re-focus on what we do well. When we do it, we're not too bad and we obviously need strengthening in certain areas."

drawing against Blackpool won't be good enough either Ollie, but you still have the backing of the best supporters in the land, so time to fix up!

10 points for stating the obvious! The team should hit every game with the same attitude. How many goals do we let in tomorrow before we start playing. Shut up IH. Save your breath for the excuses after the match.

I think the best result would be a postponement the way things have gone with our transfer attempts and the injuries we've got

Holloway is right that the current players should be doing better, but is that a surprise?

It is hard to imagine any other manager has worse man management skills than Holloway. How motivated would anyone be in a team "managed" by someone constantly whinging and blaming others in the way he does? He does it for his own vanity too, there is no other need for it.

Would anyone have made a worse a mess of this season than Holloway has wrought with his inept man management, irrational substitutions and continual formation changes? I doubt it.

If we don't beat both Blackpool and Bradford then we seriously need to review every member of staff from top to bottom. We need to start going out on our shields and playing more adventurous, attacking stuff. If we are creating so few chances week on week with our suspect defence every game is bound to be an uphill struggle. This is my preference but if we are losing whilst creating very little then I say have lets start going for goals and try to out score teams.
