Millwall eye Harding as Cardiff ready new Malone offer

MILLWALL have lined up Nottingham Forest's Dan Harding as a possible replacement for Scott Malone, who is set to be the subject of an improved bid from Cardiff.

The Bluebirds look ready to up their offer for Malone after an initial approach was rejected.

And with the 23-year-old increasingly likely to depart The Den, Lions manager Ian Holloway has enquired about bringing in Harding, 31.

Malone and Harding share the same agent so a deal would be easy to sort out but he is one of several left backs on Holloway's radar.

The former Southampton defender has been told he is free to leave the City Ground.

And, speaking to press in the Midlands today, Forest boss Stuart Pearce revealed: "We spoke with Dan back in the summer and we were open minded with him.

"We said that if a loan or permanent move became available for him, we will listen to it.

"At this moment in time, there is a club who are interested in taking him, so the ball is in Dan's court a little bit."

I would stick with Briggs, give him a decent run and he will come good imo. Harding is average at best, why else would forest let him go.

@LETEMCOME: If Malone is going we will need another left back - we can't expect Briggs to play every single game! I can't think of another natural left back in the entire squad!

@TheBermondseyBomber: What about Alan Dunne Ollie likes him a lot and plays him anywhere to fit him into the starting 11.

@TheBermondseyBomber: Briggs should be able to play every week at his age but your right we do need cover.

31 years old so he is in the right age bracket then, a 23 year old for a 31 year old, looks like when Ollie talks about youth in the team he means anyone under 35. I know Edwards is older but he was quality. Although I did not rate Malone all that he is still developing, this guy is on the way down. I suppose we should have expected this kind of transaction.
