Bournemouth manager: Win at Millwall was comfortable

EDDIE Howe praised his Bournemouth players for overcoming a "hostile atmosphere" to claim three points at The Den on Sunday.

The Cherries extended their unbeaten run to 14 games and moved four points clear at the top of the Championship after two first-half goals secured a "comfortable" victory.

"It was a big win for us," said Howe. "When you come to Millwall you know it's going to be difficult. It was very hostile and we dealt with that challenge well.

"We kept 11 men on the pitch, and always felt that if we kept a clean sheet we would have a good chance to win the game.

"I didn’t feel we were ever under pressure really. Without being under control we were OK. The goals came at good times. We took them both well.

"We were 2-0 ahead before against Millwall and it was a good test for us second half.

"We needed to learn from the previous game against Millwall [in November]. In the second half we were professional and the sending off helped.

"Without being at our very best it was a comfortable win. I was pleased we just focused on the football. To get involved in the other stuff can only affect you negatively.

"The crowd are very aggressive and they had their game plan, but it didn’t really sway us."

Can't argue with that , but then we have Not got a great team together at this stage of proceedings! Come back when we have a settled team , maybe next year or in the FA cup and see. ( NOLU, WDC ).

we were s*** granted, but a dodgy pen, and off-side second, typifies the s*** officials we get, and when you're struggling you don't get the breaks. eddie howe is a top w.a.n.k.e.r. in my book. we will be playing bigmouth next season on there display, not the best team to play us this season.

Is he having a laugh?? His players were in the ref's ear-holes from minute 1! Not to mention the endless diving!

"The crowd are very aggressive and they had their game plan, but it didn’t really sway us."

We were aggressive because of all the diving and pressure they put on the ref! There was no pre-match game plan! What team's crowd has a f*****g game plan?

This league is becoming more and more like the Premier League, which explains why Bournemouth are top. F*** modern football, f*****g makes me sick.

@Jim28: maybe that's what ollie needs to hear jim. That aside, Howe is showing ollie that with average players with a good work ethic and good tactical formations you can be sitting on top of the league. Let's hope the mental one wakes up soon eh@alpha_dogg: agree with everything you say alpha but they are top of the league and we are practically bottom. It's not the first time they have come to the den and cheated, clearly we didn't learn

Only bit I disagree with Eddie Howe is..."When you come to Millwall you know it's going to be difficult". The last few seasons suggest otherwise.
