As it happened: Millwall 0-2 Bournemouth

The Lions are looking to bounce back from a heavy 6-1 defeat to Norwich City on Boxing Day against the league leaders in their final home game of 2014.

Trying to be positive here, that free kick by Williams that Easter scored from was a cracker, curving right in the top corner till ruddey got a finger tip to it. That's the only plus I saw against Norwich but it's something. I fear another mauling today ,they are so quick on the break, and we are defending so poorly I can't see how we can get anything out of this one.

Sid Nelson making his league debut against the leaders, brave or stupid? If it pays off then we might have solved one of our problems at the back but unfortunately with Shittu alongside he could be cruelly exposed, especially if Shittu does his usual wandering and ends up defending on his ar*e again? Still don't get McDonald, we need somebody to create chances and from what I've seen he hasn't been doing that.

This is the best side we can put out. 4 at the back Williams and Abdou in front with width from Martin and Woolford to feed Gregory. This a sensible pick and gives ih options on the bench

This is probably one of our best starting 11 we can put out, you could argue over the CB but no one will be unanimous about the pairing. Well done Sid its been a long time coming. I've not been on ere for a while so happy Christmas and a happy new year Millwall 3 points today please we know there is good football, grit and determination amongst the lads but its down to Ollie to get it out of them. You're all very quick to blame IH. We all looked at the line up and thought it was a good one. What else can he do?
You lot need to chill out...

I was at Bournemouth away and we were 2-0 down... No one was shouting at Ollie there and we all clapped him after when we came back and almost won!

@mitchamscaff: You can't criticise the fans on here without a barrel of dislikes but it's true. The funds and squad isn't there and people blame Holloway thinking he would come and get us in the top 8 in his first proper season.
If people actually paid attention instead of looking at the result they'd see it's actually a issue with talent and not direction that were suffering with.

What he can do is, start a home game 4 4 2, attack a team from the start, not once we are 2, 3 or however many down. Not play an average right back at centre back, not play a former champions league forward in midfield. Not make 5 or 6 changes every week. Not come on here before a game and say who he is gonna play for the next game. Not compare himself to willy wonka.

Any of those things will do?

You are absolutely right we have had 3 different managers and it has ended up the same EACH TIME! doesn't that say something about the players we have.

We have a good manger at the helm he wouldn't have won promotion twice from this league if he was a crap manager. we don't have the investment needed to challenge at this level if more people make there way down the Den each week then we would have a bit more money to spend to buy better players.

@lion.ie: Take Holloway's 'celebrity status' away and his record elsewhere is not that impressive. Even more important is his record after a year at Millwall, which despite the many players he's signed, is pretty awful.

Surely Holloway is finished after this defeat, Millwall had 2 attempts at goal to Bournemouth's 20 according to the BBC. No more excuses for this doughnut of a manager. how he survives is beyond belief. He has done his best and his best is not good enough. GO!

I know iam not allowed to moan on this site but if you dont moan or show that your not happy with the rubbish we are being served up then nothing will change. But if all you holloway lovers are happy with this excuse for football then good luck to you,you might start having a moan when we are bottom of league 1 and IH still does not know his best side and is still talking out of his a.rse. There are teams in this league who man for man are no better than us but play like a team, I wonder why?

played my man Nelson but hasn't got a clue going forward, plays McDonald, brings on Fuller? 0 shots on target this game. 2 shots on target for last 2 games. Wake up supporters. This is a disgrace. How many games you want us to have just 2 shots at goal in a whole game. -16 goal difference. Do you want us to be bottom, before you realise this guy is ruining us? Ollie retire mate, do yourself a favour or coach Rotherham- now we are the same terrible club.

Getting relegated: Blackpool, Millwall, Rotherham. If you think you know better, back Millwall on Betfair, i been laying Millwall for 3 months. Made shitloads out of you clueless mugs. Holloway OUT

@JimmyLion: Betting wise, on my ratings, Bournemouth were the biggest away certs in a very, very long time today and I've been saying for a very long time that it's Blackpool, Rotherham and one other. Looking at the teams around us we are by far the least well equipped to get out of this.

Well at least it wasn't 0-8' look guys lets face facts 90% of our team are not championship players, we need money or foriegn investment to buy players like Bournemouth Brentwood etc, it's not coming so unfortunately as much as jb has invested we just cannot compete in this league with this crop of players, so poor results equals poor attendances hence no funds for investment, if we do go down we need to clear out all theses current out of contract players & invest in youth & players who want to play for the badge, sacking holloway will cost us money we don't have, plus who would want to come to manage us, so it might have to be made within, we narrowly escaped relegation last season but the warnings & investment were not addressed, just look at our goals conceded to goals scored , we all know what we need maybe 6-7 players but where are they & have they all been scouted or just going to be bought on a panic buy, sorry guys unless we get financial investment league 1 becons as much as it hurts me to say, I wish I could say more positive things but let's all wake up & see what's in front of us, this is not a dream it's reality were just not good enough end of !

@mfcjon: Not sacking Holloway will cost us more. A new face may improve the gates, clear out the rubbish and get the players to believe in themselves, Graham did it with less resources. Get in someone young and eager. Its no good lying down and saying nothing can be changed,,,it can and this shower of a board need to be reminded in no uncertain terms that the fans deserve better.

Nothing to be said really. I can understand both the Ollie out brigade (which includes me) and the keep Ollie brigade but something has to change. We need to break the pattern and if getting rid of Ollie is that change that breaks the pattern then so be it.

I thought Nelson played well today.
We didn't get smashed 8-1 like most of us thought we would. First half an hour we held our own. But a lot of us in the summer wanted that extra striker to aid Gregory. It has been apparent so far this season, and again today. IH wasted time and effort on wanting Matt Smith when Andre Grey passed us by. I would like to see which new striker we get. He'll have to hit the ground running. One or two more wingers and an experienced centre back is also needed. I want shot of all the injury prone players, the have beens, the journey men, the over 30's and the not so committed. 24 players out of contract come the summer. Try and get rid of most of that to the lower league teams with a bit of money in January. Bring in a bit of added capital and free up the wage bill. Fight for survival and massive squad over haul in the summer. Holloway's January signings will be pivotal to our survival success. The board wont sack him any sooner so no point wanting it to happen as it wont be the case.It would probably do us more harm in the long term anyway. This man is trying to build the club from the bottom up. For that I commend him. It's more than the last two managers acheived. What I can't commend him for is his oversight of preparing for the future without giving enough concentration to the here and now. Crazy formations, line ups and tactics. Excuses will not cut it anymore. Solutions asap will. Roll on January, it's all we can hope for.
Happy New Year to all fellow Millwall supporters. Until 2015... Roger, Out!

I understand people not wanting change but this is getting stupid now, We're halfway through the season now. Bradford will be coming next week holding no fear of us.
IF we are going to change it has to be now, Get the youngsters in now, give them half the season. If we go down so be it, we start next year in League 1 with these boys and they will have this season as experience. They will not do any worse, they can be told the seniors put us in this position so just go and play for the shirt and express yourselves. They will be better for it for next season. Young Nelson Man of the match today, Jacks done the same this year, Aidens done well when hes come in, Fred should be with us, But Holloway will probably drop Nelson after today not to be seen again for months.
Those of you that keep saying ''Let him get his own players in'' and ''see what he does in january''.....
    Well:
Upson. In and out the team
Angel, As above, nowhere again today!!
Webster, Hes clearly out of the plans???
Gueye, There is a pattern here!!
Briggs, Can anyone see the pattern yet???
    Fuller, Knees clearly gone..
    The Watford Ren-something..
Williams is class and has worked and the boy Gregorys got something so credit there.
Shittu banished and then back as skipper??
Dunne tries his heart out but aint no centre half.
He should of sorted a lot more of these contracts before now instead of dealing with people like Easter, Marquis etc
What is his best11?? He don't know, the players don't know and don't get me started on formations and systems...Hes lost the plot and the dressing room!!!
The fans just want the players to play for the shirt and that's not happening so let the kids Jimmy and Williams, wooley, etc around them have a go.
I'm sorry but it has to be now or never..............

@DirtyDen for me @DirtyDen: However at the start of the season most of us were all very pleased after the first couple of games we were creating a lot. It is clear to me that we are lacking leaders as under three different managers, all with good track records we lack belief and confidence and end up shipping loads of goals. For me problem at the moment is not HOLLOWAY but the Senior players. As for saying Wooly should play, you must be seeing a different player to me, he put us in trouble countless times today with his poor first touch and altho he works hard is not as good as gueye fred or martin

        @MillwallChorister:
Its just my opinion tho fella, and yea Wooly might of not been on top of his game today, however he was topgoalscorer last season in another shocking season and does at least play like he gives a s**t about the club, which not many do.
Also the senior players are Holloways fault, He picks the team, which no-one understands, makes on average 3-4 changes every game. And you expect the players to know whats going on???
Half of them are out of contract at the end of the season, which the three different managers you have stated signed these players!!! This situation should never of happened.
The start of the season seems a long, long time ago however a decent start and he goes mental with change, change, change.
But like I say its just my opinion. Happy new year all.
