Preview: Millwall vs. Bournemouth

MILLWALL will hand fitness tests to Andy Wilkinson and Scott Malone ahead of their home game against Bournemouth on Sunday.

Boss Ian Holloway is hoping to have both Wilkinson (back) and Malone (hip) available for selection after they missed the Boxing Day defeat to Norwich.

Martyn Woolford did not travel to Carrow Road because of illness but could also return.

Holloway has confirmed that Lee Gregory is set to start up front, having been named as a substitute against the Canaries, while Jimmy Abdou is also in contention.

Bournemouth, who beat Fulham 2-0 yesterday, will be without injured duo Elliot Ward and Tokelo Rantie.

We are coming purely to enjoy the match! Plus the refreshments at the Blue Anchor. The real Test will be after we get some New Good Players in during Jan 2015. ( NOLU , WDC ).

If i was a glory hunter i would support arsenal, chelsea or a northern outfit. What are you hoping for that we get beat again so you can come on here and tell us all to cheer up and hope and be positive. Go back to your yoga and jostick burning and leave those of us who choose to have a moan when things look s.hit well out of your drivel. F.ucking glory hunter jesus, have a word with yourself.

We better, the way i see it,were gonna be under a transfer embargo in the summer.
I think thats why ih been playing everyone out of position,so he can show we weak in many areas. He has stated before that J.B. dosnt Know football,so trying to squeeze funds out of him for jan.
I believe that if he gets the money to buy 3 half decent players in jan we will finish top half.then next season we can utilise the kids, who have gained first team experience elsewhere this season

What really worries me is if (and it is a big if) we sign 3 or 4 players in the Jan window what happens then? All it will mean is another 4 poor b******* you will be added to the squad, playing one week, benched the next game and out of the squad the week after only to return as captain a few weeks after that! The combinations and permutations will increase!! Ollie has been here nearly a year and he still doesn't know his best XI. Picking Marquis for me has the last straw. The boy is a 100% player, I will give him that but league 2 at best on ability as Northampton will testify. What one of the last 3 managers of the bum boys would you prefer, Ollie, Pulis or Warnock. For me the kindest thing I can say is that Ollie in my eyes is in the bronze medal position..........

@SingleWhiteLion: Pulis would never come to us but ive got a feeling that Warnock would do ok, he has that ability to get teams going in this league and has passion and drive that we are lacking big time but who knows its just opinions. Personally id like to see an ex Wall player have a go, someone that knows the club and what we are about.

I agree with you Pulis wouldn't come to us at the moment (six months down the line without an offer and maybe but we will be in league 1 by then if we are not careful) and Warnock has stated that palace would be his last job (but he is a lying b******). My comment was sparked by the fact that Ollie left the bum boys because he 'Lost the dressing room' and I can see how by all the chopping and changing he does. We don't know who will be playing from one week to the next so how do you think the players feel?? When he does leave or is sacked we will all hear how it really is but until then none of the players will ever speak publically, Christ they will be too scared too, as it is you give a MOTM performance one week only to be benched the next.

As for Big Sam, forget that one. The hamsters could have got rid this spring, the meat heads were screaming for him to go, holding up signs saying Fat Sam etc. He will be there as long as that sex case David Gold is there. I reckon he has got pictures and DVD's of that nonce case in action....................

@SingleWhiteLion: We wouldn't be able to attract Pulis - he's just waiting for the right Premier job to come along. But I hate it when people ask who else we’d get better than Holloway. We're not that bad a proposition - an under-performing squad with the possibility of a bit of investment if we get towards the opposite end of the table.

Maybe we haven't got a great name and aren't exactly a glamour club, but we're a proper Championship London club. We've also been a springboard in the career of a number of decent managers over the years.

@SingleWhiteLion: The quandary is that without a couple of decent signings to freshen things up the rest of the season looks to be a continuation of what we have had so far. Top of my list since before Lomas has been a quality centre-half. Realistically, there isn't a lot around so I'll risk the wrath of the dislike button and mention a 29 year old international centre-half currently on a short term loan at Ipswich, Sean St-Ledger. There are risks involved with signing him, but for the right price........? If an offer comes in we should let Malone go at the right price as long as Holloway can spend the money. Competition for Forde? Thomas Kuszczak is another international out of contract player currently on a short term deal with Wolves. Any more realistic suggestions out there?

@SingleWhiteLion: pretty much spot on mate. Marquis thing said it all and 2/3 more players will only make things worse! Line ups, formations, substitutions etc are crazy and its getting worse. Thing is, is there anyone with any power at the club who knows anything about football? This is the danger of having a chairman (good guy that he is) that knows nothing about football. Be 8500 tomorrow inc 1500 away fans, how long can that go on? Heavy defeat tomorrow and he has to go.

If you look at the programme, there is only one game where he has made 2 subs. Every game other than that, win lose or draw and all 3 subs have been used and within that sometimes a different formation too. I can see that during the first couple of months but not after a year. Look at what happened last year, he picked 2 Millwall teams and his favoured team lost 6-1 to his second choice team. f****** hell he could re-name those teams now as Norwich and Millwall. He is fast turning into a clueless c*** but I will be there tomorrow, God help me............

Hoping don't win wars, a strategy and good team do, we have neither. We need a good manager with ambition . I have said it on here before but got shot down and that is Teddy Sheringham, he is young and very experienced footballer. He loved Millwall and I think would do a good job for us. All this Hammers connection is utter crap and overtly childish. I knew him well enough to know he has brains, Remember George Graham was only the youth team manager at Crystal Palace before he took up his first managerial job at Millwall and he turned the club around. There are players who would want to play for Teddy and he knows the club inside out. Whether he would want to take it on is another matter though and in the end it is up to the board to decide, keep Holloway or make a change.

I will be backing ollie let's face it malone is out the door to Cardiff I'd love to see the likes of nelson Fred pavey and Powell do the job beside jimmy and Gregory however their time will come let's see who of the 24 he can ship out in January we have always been a yoyo club I'd love to see us up the top end of the championship I've watched my club between the first and third division for a long time

With JB as our chairman I've seen new impetuous in the club. Better than I've ever seen ollie has had to deal with signings from kj and lomarse and this is where the excessive amount of out of contract players has come from. Let's forget this getting on every ones back fighting amongst ourselves we are millwall super millwall from the den we will back our team through thick and thin it was ingrained in me from my dad and grandad

So sort yourselves our Bournemouth is the next game let's f***in get behind our club our millwall and scare the s*** out of the opposition like we used to be it 7k or 12k we always make more noise than anyone else

But that's their right ain't it I don't think it achieves anything as the clown won't be removed on that basis

But they put their money into the club already in a ST so calling them a mug is very productive

Apologies for my Mugs comment as anyone who supports and spends money supporting the team is not a mug (too many ports last night)!!

Big game today and this could be our biggest game of the season so far in how the players respond to the Norwich shambles, so believe it or not really looking forward to the game but not doubt I will regret saying that after we see the team selection and formation.

@thecolumbusblock: Well said 1979.I am one of those ST not going today for various reasons.
I do not have to justify my decision to any one.
I have supported Lions for 45 years,I have a `Lions Gold Card`and I was there on the terraces at the Old Den in the early 80`s when they was getting crowds of less than 3,000 ????
So I would say the situation now has just got so bad that I (and others) have had enough of this s*** football with a tinkering Clown that things have to change - AND SOON.

Set up a team with balance, defenders defend, back 4 need to discover some solidarity instead of this wing back b*******, we are shipping a lot of goals being caught on the counter from full backs being out of position. Midfield need to protect the back 4, we need a ball winner so for me jimmy is a must,at the same time be able to attack with pace and creativity, i still think if gregory is given constant service he will score goals so i would go
    forde
wilkinson, shittu, nelson, beavers. Martin, williams, abdou, malone
    Gueye, gregory.
Beavers might not be an out and out left back but has played there before and can defend! Nelson why not give him a go, good young player with some spirit, malone on the left wing, he cant defend but can go past players, cross and score. Williams and abdou in front of the back 4 who between them can pass, start attacks, hassel and win the ball. Gueye with his pace and strength can complement gregory's movement, different players up top who will be difficult to mark, then we have fuller (target man) on the bench who can make an impact if needed.

This is Bournmemouth we are playing and somehow we are desperate, just shows how far behind we are.

Let's have a good performance in any event, if we get another tanking, it will be IH's last game.

Spot on tony,i am just getting ready to travel up to london for the game, for all the poster's on NAD who like to name the team, the one thing about IH he keep's us guessing and totally confound's us all with his selection's,so hopefully the fan's get behind the player's during the match and if IH comes up with another stupid team selection then we stay behind and give him stick, because with some of the decision's he has made it's men in white coat's that he need's.

@foxy: He has had enough time and he doesn't seem to know what a quality player is considering some of the ponderous types he has already bought in and his bizarre team selections. Best thing for the club is for him to go, soon I hope.

@Peckhamlad: I disagree. Ponderous implies the ability to think. This current shower of deadwood only think of their bank balance. Almost to a man, they dont give a flying f#ck for our club. I predict another hiding.

@Peckhamlad: don't get me wrong mate I do think he's a clown and would have been happy if he had gone weeks ago, BUT the players he has brought in ie gregs wilko ect are not bad, but the players he inherited just don't seem to want to know do they.

Key to today is staying in the game, so for once we need to be a deliberately cautious at home and keep it tight. Team need to keep the crowd on side, so a couple of strong early challenges, nothing stupid, wouldn't go amiss and a couple of pot shots at goal as well, given the chance. Keep the ball, put it in the stands when needed and get behind the ball when they have it and win it back as quickly as possible. A controlled but aggressive first half performance. Second half, more of the same and then go at them in the last 30. Personally, I think Woolford is worth a go in McDonald's position. He can beat players, has a chance making pass in him, can shoot from anywhere and scores goals.
