Holloway: Millwall stars must prove they deserve new deals

IAN Holloway has challenged his out-of-contract stars to earn new deals.

15 Millwall players are set to become free agents next summer.

But Holloway says extensions will not be offered until the Lions are higher up the table.

He said: "They are going to have to learn that if you want something from me, you have to give me something that I want, which is finishing higher up the table.

"Otherwise we won't have moved forward, will we?

"I have got some decisions to make and a lot of them will be financial and geared towards putting the squad back to where it should be at this club.

"But in the meantime we have to keep things ticking over because results are what matters.

"Everybody knows I could sweep the lot out and clear three quarters of my budget. So the lads should be trying to please me and they are doing that at the moment."

Ollie surely that's what they should be doing every week either to get another contract from Millwall or to impress someone else to come and get them, dont worry about our squad for next season first of all we need to be in the Championship next season.
When that has been done as early as possible then you can start planning for the following season, just get us up the table pronto and then look towards the 15/16 season.

To have 15 players out of contract in the summer is unbelievable & bad management. Sort it out.

Personally think it rubs the players up the wrong way, should be encouraged to play for our great club , not threatend whether or not they will get a contract or not depending on our league position , our final league position also comes down to some of your decisions as well Ollie, chop & changing teams !!

Of the 15 players out of contract some of them like Wright are leftovers from Jackett's reign and then we have the players recruited by Lomas ie Bywater. Also Chaplow and Bailey who only seem to be able to play a few games before getting injured. I think this is a good opportunity for Ollie to rebuild the squad the way he wants it and a lot more of the youngsters should get a chance which will reduce the wage bill.
