Holloway plans to freshen up Millwall side for Cardiff clash

MILLWALL boss Ian Holloway has revealed that he will make several changes to his team for tomorrow's televised clash with Cardiff City.

Holloway feels that his starting XI needs to be freshened up after a draining 350-mile return trip to Wigan in midweek.

The Lions drew 0-0 draw with the Latics on a energy-sapping surface at the DW Stadium.

Speaking ahead of the Bluebirds' visit to The Den, Holloway said: "One thing I've got to look at is the freshness of the team.

"After we went up to Sheffield Wednesday earlier this season, we lost 1-0 to Rotherham on the Saturday and produced a below-par issues with generic lexapro performance.

"I didn't change enough people and that was wrong because people were tired. I won't do that again because people are physically and mentally tired.

"We had someone pick up an injury yesterday while we were walking through things, which is very annoying.

"When you have a massive journey on a Tuesday and you all get back at half past three in the morning, this is what happens.

"If I had a couple more players available, I would probably make six changes. Making these decisions is what I get paid for. It will either work or it won't."

Four changes then. No Dunne as he's suspended. Sounds like Shittu will get a game to me. Possibly Fred, Abdou and Gueye.

Yeah, your the manager it's your call. If it works they'll be licking yer bum on here, if it fails there's plenty on here that will tell you what you should have done.

That's what the forum is for....to praise or to vent frustration. Personal feelings from the fans are a valued asset to every club and its team and manager. If you don't like reading it then don't use the forum, otherwise see it for its intended purpose....real time value added discussions or criticism.
      Here endeth the lesson.

Injuries aside, pic the best group and get them settled. Week in week out it's change after change, surely by now these blokes are fit and surely Ollie's gotta have a handle on what the best lineup is.

How the f*** can our players be tired?
With the international break they had earlier this month our players didn't play any competitive football between the 5th Oct to the 17th Oct. That's 13 days.
We play a couple of games this week and the teams fu#ked. All I ever hear from Ollie nowadays is 'this player isn't fit' and 'this player needs to improve his fitness'. Well you're the fu#king manager Ollie, get them fit or f*** them off, simples!!
Next thing, stop changing the back 4. No wonder we're conceding s*** goals, no one in defence knows what the f*** they should be doing.
Finally, it isn't Alan Dunne's fault we're going through a s*** patch at the moment. If you want to blame anyone, blame Ollie, he's the one who made him captain. NO PLAYER should be guaranteed a starting position, whether they're captain or not. You play the best possible 11 players in there best positions.
Sorry for the rant, but I'm doing this 'Go sober for October' challenge and haven't had a drink for 24 days. Here's hoping for 3 points tomorrow.
    COYL.

@Syd the Lion: Ollie mentions fitness so much because he has such high standards of fitness and if you aren't fit... you aren't getting in the team!!

Lomas never mentioned fitness because he thought it was "all about ball work".... but look what happened with Bailey, 3 chins and a bigger gut than Shrek!

3 games in 7 days is hard for anyone, plus the 350 mile round trip to Wigan and back.... exhausting stuff!!

@Bradders: If fitness is such a key thing for Ollie, why does he keep bringing ex-premiership players who haven't found a club and haven't played any competitive football this season in on a trial. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Is it only our players that are always tired??? It wouldn't be the same if we didn't pick up an injury or two while not playing.

Apart from all that, let's get out there tomorrow and show everyone what we're capable of and get the three points.

What a load of rubbish, a long round trip journey to Wigan. They travelled the day before, stayed overnight in hotel. Played 90mins, home at 03.15 ish. Poor soles, they want to get up that time and put a full days work in like a lot of us. Then they know what being tired is.

Did not know that Sky picked the Millwall line up, if thats true then he could leave most of the side out that played the first 65 mins last Saturday, Ollie if you think there good enough them play them camera or no camera.

Cobblers, he changes the team at a whim because he has not got clue what his best side is. The excuse that some of the team are "tired" doesn't wash, he has to keep Forde in goal perhaps he never gets tired. He keeps players out who he claims are not "fit" yet drops the players who are supposed to be fit to "recover" It's making excuses before the game. I am losing patience with IH.
