Preview: Wigan Athletic vs. Millwall

MILLWALL will be without Shaun Williams as he serves a one-match suspension following his red card against Wolves.

Loan signing Andy Wilkinson is expected to come straight into the side at right back, with Alan Dunne moving into the centre of defence alongside Byron Webster.

Ricardo Fuller is pushing for a starting berth up front after he scored twice as a substitute to rescue the Lions a point at the weekend.

Lee Martin could also come into the side after impressing off the bench.

Fred Onyedinma was included in the 20-man squad that departed The Den on Monday.

Millwall are without Carlos Edwards (knee), Nicky Bailey (calf), Mathias Ranegie (hamstring) and Angel Martinez (calf), though the latter two are set to return to training.

Emyr Huws is one of four Wigan players who will need late fitness tests. Captain Emmerson Boyce is definitely out with an ankle injury but Roger Espinoza could start.

I've only put King in as I think Forde needs a bit of a kick up the backside.

@NICKOLA: I would still start Forde but agree he needs to sort out his form for us. He was amazing for Rep Ireland but he was at fault for 2 of the goals against Wolves!

@NICKOLA: why do you think forde needs a kick up the a***? He is in good form at the moment and proved it against Germany.

@benzo: Your right he was amazing against Germany but on Saturday he was poor for us. The freekick should not have gone in from there and he did not react at all when the ball hit the post for their 2nd goal. I agree he should start as he is by far our best keeper but I do think he needs to produce the same form for us than he does for RI

@whiteliont: I think the blame for those second half goals is a bit harsh. None of his defenders reacted after the ball hit the post either and that free kick was a complete freak - he'd have had to be positioned way back to get a hand to it.

@Micky Lions: Made a fantastic save from the Williams free kick at the death to save us the point......

Not seen Martinez yet so why not give him a chance give Wollford a rest hasn't been great recently We looked lot better when Malone came on against Wolves. Bring Fuller on with 25 minutes to go

I think Holloway will stick to the same team as Saturday but with Wilkinson in for Williams, with Dunne tucking in to the centre of defence. Only other change that might be made is Martin to start instead of O'Brien/Woolford. So.....

    (4-2-3-1)
    Forde
    Wilkinson, Webster, Dunne, Briggs.
    Abdou, Chaplow.
    Martin/O'Brien , McDonald, Woolford/Martin
    Gregory

This isn't particularly what I'd like to see, just what I think IH will go with.

@marknorman3: Haven't seen much of Fred recently, still very young - maybe he'll breakthrough next season. O'Brien is looking pretty handy, seems to be making a smooth transition into the 1st team...

@pieandmash: Briggs is a much better defender. I'd rather Malone play in front of Briggs in an attacking role myself.

@tezza_mm: Briggs may be a better defender, but Malone is a better player. I agree though, would like to see him given a chance playing in a LM role.

I'd love to see us play with two up front.
If we go a couple of goals up then maybe bring someone back into midfield.

The tempo of our game needs to speed up. We were panicking with the ball last season, now we seem to want to keep knocking it about. Let's start really countering teams.

@tezza_mm: Agree Tezza, like to start two up front with the aim of getting a good lead. Once achieved then perhaps take Fuller off possibly. Gregory is young and fit and still needs games under his belt.

A 33 man squad, seven games without a win , in the bottom six, a manager who doesn't know his best team or formation, we,ve come a long way since the dark days of lomas.

@thecolumbusblock: Can not really argue with that. Problem was that we had a couple of iffy wins at the beginning of the season, then everyone started to talk about Top Six, Promotion, Premier league and Champions League. Infact Ollie needs to address some really basic problems, why do let in such soft goals as we did on Saturday, why can 't he decide what his best side is (Barring Injuries and Suspensions) and what is the best way for his players to play. Only then will we start to see some real progress.
