Webster: Derby draw gives Millwall something to build on

DEFENDER Byron Webster believes Saturday's clean sheet at Derby County gives Millwall something to build on after the international break.

Webster was recalled to the back four as the Lions battled to a deserved draw at the iPro Stadium.

And the 27-year-old said afterwards: "We knew it was going to be a tough game and Derby are one of those teams who play good football.

"They're not a lump it team, so we knew we had to be disciplined and switched on all the time.

"I thought we did that well and created quite a few chances ourselves, but probably all-in-all a draw was a fair result in the end.

"The stats show that Derby only had one shot on target, so as a defensive buy lexapro in canada unit, we've done our job.

"But it's not just the back five, we defended well as a team.

"We've done quite a bit of work over the past few days on the training ground on our defensive shape and as the gaffer said, if you don't concede, you don't lose.

"That is the main thing because we always think we can nick a goal.

"After a result like this, it's disappointing that we don't have a game for a couple of weeks because it has given us something to build on.

"It's been an up and down start to the season and it's all about consistency if you want to do well in the Championship.

"If we perform like this, then there is no reason why we can’t be more consistent."

@jolly roger: A decent striker yes, but for the rest we've got a big squad and need to start getting the best out of it. A big problem over the past two/three years is a lack of continuity, so lets build a settled side from what we've got. I think people are sick and tired of the endless flow of very average loans & freebies through the club.

We know we can defend in numbers and shut out the so called better sides in this division - what we cant do at the moment is Win!

I know the team is crying out for consistency but i do wanna try Beevers and Webster at back both under 30 can build a good partnership and allows Williams to use his passing ability in getting assists keep Briggs and Malone a left back and left wing respectively and use woolford/fred and Martin as good super subs and we just need to sort out up top.

I really don't know why holloway hasn't tried that yet. When webster signed, I was really looking forward to watching him and beevers together, and holloway has been saying he needs a winger who can run with the ball. How good is malone at doing that? And it's no secret that he's not great defensively so put briggs left back.

@mfclions: The problem with Malone is that the final ball is usually poor. He needs a lot of crossing practise.

          @Sealion:
Very true, I'd say his crossing is p*** poor. But to be fair he brings a lot to the side when he is on form so I won't knock him, Infact I think he will be in the premiership one day with or without us. Hopefully it's with!

@82wall: Fully agree 82 he has a lot of potential and he is one of the few players that worry the opposition, if he could get some accuracy with his crosses we will have a very tasty player.

Went to the match and have to say that it was a good game despite no goals and it could have gone either way. Both teams had equal chances and the draw was the best result. First half better than second but we could have nicked it in the last 10 minutes.
Defence and midfield quite good but still need that goal scorer.

No team gets promoted without a regular goalscorer, and we've not had one of them since Moros first season. Even then it took some time for him to settle in, I hope Lee is in the same transition mode. I'm beginning to worry again after our reasonable start to this campaign. Anybody share my pessimism ?

Early season form was good then along came the break. Other teams used the break to sort themselves out we came out not learning anything. Probably coz of the good start. Now IH has the chance to sort it out so after the break another run would be handy. Coyl.

Neil Harris ( Chopper ), was full of Praise for Big Danny Shittu in the Under 21s win 6-5 on penalties. All the team played great, but he singled out Danny S cause he played the whole match, and was a True Captain towards the youngsters. Well Done ' Big Dan' . ( NOLU, WDC ).
