Millwall midfielder to have scan and miss Blues match

NICKY Bailey has been ruled out of Millwall's midweek contest with Birmingham City and will undergo a scan on a suspected aggravation of a recent calf problem.

Boss Ian Holloway confirmed the blow prior to training on Monday morning.

Holloway revealed that Bailey would not take part in the session after he was on the end of a crunching tackle from Huddersfield's Tommy Smith at the weekend.

The Lions are unsure if Bailey has sustained further damage to his calf, which he tore during pre-season, or whether the midfielder has suffered a fresh injury.

"Bailey is having another scan today," Holloway said. "He won't be involved tomorrow."

Bailey is fast becoming part of the deadwood at the club. Move him on along with Chaplow, Hoyte, Easter, Marquis. Send Reggie back to Watford and get some pace in the team. We haven't adequately replaced Edwards who we miss greatly and last time we had two true out and out natural wingers was when we had Hackett and Martin on the flanks. 2 strikers are also need to play but inevitable it will end up meaning we will need to play 4-4-2 and I think Olly would rather walk than revert to it even if it does mean it will work for us at this stage.

Think it's about time to give up on Bailey, pretty sure his contract is up at the end of this season anyway.

I had high hopes from him before the season started, but it seems he can't even make it through one game. He should never have started against Huddersfield and that certainly hasn't helped, it has only put him back further.

Is this fella made of glass?! Get Bailey on a pay as you play contract! I'm starting to think that Bobby Bacic isn't up to much and we need someone to help with our conditioning.... 2 injuries a week - can't carry on!

I will probably get stick for this, but I dont think that this is a great loss. He has hardly set the world alight since he has been here, and I honestly would rather have the rotation of Williams, Upson & Powell in those positions. We also have adequate cover in those positions with Martinez, Jimmy & even dare I say it Chaplow, who has looked half decent the last couple games that he has played. Bailey gave away a ridiculous penalty at the weekend, he looks off the pace, which is expected considering that he has not played and keeps getting injured, however it has taken him a year to get fit since he arrived. I would dispose of shittu, easter, bailey & hoyte and let youth tem have a go, at least they want it.

It is in the final third where we struggle and think that although woolford has good patches, he is never going to be the creative influence that we can rely on game in game out. Martin out (again) is a big blow because he has been a very good player this year. If Ollie wants a winger then why not try pushing malone forward on the left & playing briggs behind him with? Neither are amazing at defending but together may be able to work something down that side. I also wonder whether mcdonald will be that player that holloway wants as he seems to hold onto the ballto long and not have the vision to play that killer through ball that we have missed for years.

Something is needed up top, and needed soon!

I reckon Bailey was rushed back too soon. What did he have , 60 mins for the U21s after a month out ?
The midfield can cope without him.
We must play 2 upfront tomorrow night cos we offer little threat at the moment.

I must say Holloway that it was a terrible decision to play him on Saturday.
Upson had come in and done well with Williams and there was no need to stick Bailey in there so soon.
    Very frustrating all round.

Well f8ck me, why am I not surprised. I appreciate that you can pick up injuries across training and matches but this glass legged bloke is becoming a liability. Allow him to move on or shove him in the right direction away from a club trying to impose itself on the top half of the league.
Like the bloke but he's heading for the knackers yard...open the doors and walk him down wash out lane...make way for a more robust model to fill in.
Old Bailey bailey, gets injured daily!!!!! Laters fella.

This is a blessing. He along with Hoyte, Easter, Marquis, Chaplow and even Martin offer little or nothing of quality to the squad as they are either always getting treatment or just outright poor. No point having quality and trying to build a settled side when injury-prone players are seldom playing. Get rid and lower the wage bill as squad is fast becoming like the one last year - lots of bodies but most of dubious benefit.

Sh**ty luck for Bailey - been a fan of his since he came here - not so much for his ability - but because he gets stuck in and communicates well. Unfortunately, this wanting to get stuck in has kind of drawn him to injury and that's a shame, because we want our players to give everything and get in peoples faces...
These f**king injuries are killing us yet again - thankfully this is 1 position we have plenty of back up for - but as bermbomber said - this can't carry on... so frustrating.
Martinez hasn't made an appearance for us yet has he?? Last I heard, he picked up a knock too...
Hope the team is right up for the game tomorrow - we've got to bounce back now, and we're LONG overdue a result against brum. COYL.

Can't say I'm bothered or surprised
Tbh it's not a bad thing as he disrupts the flow of our game and at least we can now see Williams and upson flourish after all ollie has said that bailey and Williams get in each others way.
Every cloud has a silver lining.
Bailey is proving to be half a bottle job and wage thief so I for one am quite pleased about his absence.

eagles probably f@%ked off if he knows whats good for him after our latest shambles. brings in glass legs bailey who plays in williams area who has been by far our best playey then gives a pen away and now injured again. fu@king pussies. So ollie has told eagles to earn a contract and he probably thought why should i when we have these y wage thieves

If every other club in the football league can buy players then why can't we? Don't give me that ffp BS! We haven't bought anyone apart from Gregory lately! Everyone else is buying people and getting away with it. Why can't we? I'm fed up with this. Everyone of IH signings isn't playing. Gregory
, webster, briggs, maggie. Why even f*****g bother buying them! I knew this would happen, when things are good, IH is the man, wen it's bad he knows f**k all! You want wingers, buy some or promote youth. You want a goal scorer. Buy one! It's not hard! Here's the money. There you go. I know we have small Crowd, But where's the money going? One player bought in how long???? Seriously what is goin on behind te door? I don't give a f**k if the u15s won a cup under holloways style of play. I want a decent first team.

Alex, please, can you give us an article explaining the EXACT reasons we aren't investing at all in the squad. Not even one f*****g striker??????????!!!! Everyone person on every forum about millwall say it. So why not? Seriously what's going on? All these injured rejects are suppose to help us? I'm p***d!

@bermondsey2bromley: your answer lies in the average attendances, ours has to be one of the lowest in the Championship, but having said that Rotherham are spending big and only had 9K show up for the Charlton game.

They should able to interchange the midfield/front formation depending on the circumstances but I believe this should be our starting 11 with Powell, Abdou, King, Sid , Webster, O'Brien and Chaplow on the bench.

Seems like a lot of niggly type injuries, we.l never get anywhere while that's goin on. I'm not sure if it's normal but seems to be a lot of blokes in recent times. Get em out on the pitch and get some consistency happening. Changing lineups every game is just s***!
