IAN Holloway fears Carlos Edwards is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The right back was stretchered off five minutes into Saturday's 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest after twisting his knee in a tackle.
And Holloway said afterwards: "What a loss that's going to be. He hasn't put a foot wrong since he's been here.
"It's a bad one I think. There was a pop in his knee, and that's not good."
Jimmy Abdou slotted into defence after Edwards was taken off and Holloway was full of praise for the midfielder's performance.
He said: "Jimmy was absolutely outstanding. What can you say?
"What we do in training is move people and play them in different positions just in case that happens.
"What did I need out there? I needed someone who could run Antonio the other way. Dunney will tell you that he didn't want to do that.
"I could have put Webster on but I needed someone with legs and Jimmy's legs are as good as anybody's."
