Holloway admits Millwall may seek cover after Martin blow

IAN Holloway has admitted that he could dip into the transfer market to sign a winger in the wake of Lee Martin's knee injury.

Martin sustained ligament damage in a training session last week and may be sidelined for longer than first thought.

Free agents Jermaine Pennant and Matthew Etherington remain on Millwall's radar.

Former Bolton midfielder Chris Eagles and ex-Wolves forward Sylvan Ebanks-Blake are also being considered as possible options.

Holloway said: "If I was going to look at anything it would be a winger because we have got Martin out for possibly two months now.

"I was already looking at that before Lee got injured. Will it be a Pennant or an Etherington? I really don't know.

"Do I want someone who, if I bring them in, I have to get fit because they haven't been training, or I do I get a loan from the Premier League?

"I need someone to be here and be fit."

Procrastinating for 3 weeks on wing cover hasn't helped. Make a decision Ian!

Chris eagles for making a a*** of himself against us. But fair play he took everything from the fans that day & didn't go crying on twitter like the Fish did.

Eagles always did well against us, he'd be an interesting acquisition. At 28 he probably is at his peak also.

Eagles would be my choice from those being talked about. No more 30 odd players who could'nt really give a t*** about Millwall, just picking up nice pay packets. changing track a little, more effort has got to go into getting more people through the gate, from the club, the people who call themselves fans but only turn up for charlton and trips to Wembley. Whats wrong with people we are playing in the 5th richest league in the world one step away from THE richest league in the world and we're struggling to get 9/10,000 fans in. some people dont deserve to have a team in the championship. Never be able to compete and go forward if thing dont change. Icould go on all night about the reasons, dont panic i wont! Come on Wall do something. Aldo come on mate talk to the club. Our gates embarrasing. Forest should be a sell out but prob be 12/13000 at most. 2000 from Forest. sorry for the rant all

In your post you said millwall should try and get more through the gate, how about us fan's try to talk at least one more absent fan to come ,never know it could put 500 to 1000 on the next home gate after forest.

@jim1222: Clubs and not just Millwall need to get creative with their ticketing systems. I'm sure in the MLS fans can block book a run of upcoming games (mini season ticket). People can then commit in smaller chunks. Fact of the matter is not everyone can buy a season ticket for one reason or another.

@tezza_mm: that and family packages would be good. Also, how about rewards for non season ticket holders getting rewards for attending games, discount a couple of big games if they attend the less high profile games

@jim1222: well mate whatever anyone can do has to help. i just feel the club are not doing enough. We used to laugh at the likes of Wigan and teams like Bournmouth, Brentford etc will soon be getting bigger gates than us. When i was a kid we always had more fans than Charlton. now look. I still believe we have more fans than QPR. Palace etc but we're just not getting em through the gates. Things have to change.
