Hip injury to keep Millwall striker out of Reading clash

LEE Gregory missed Saturday's defeat at Ipswich Town because of a hip injury and the striker will also be unavailable for the trip to Reading tomorrow.

Manager Ian Holloway confirmed after the 2-0 loss at Portman Road that Gregory had not travelled with the squad because of a muscle strain sustained in training.

The Lions have not put a timescale on a return for the 26-year-old, who has made only one Championship start since his £250,000-move from Halifax Town in the summer.

Physio Bobby Bacic told the club's official site: "Lee Gregory has a slightly troublesome hip at present which is irritable, so we are pulling him out of training to let this settle so it does not become a persistent concern."

First of he wouldn't have played at ipswich or reading.this just takes the pressure of olly a bit..and no timescale on a return..when others who get injured we are told how long there likely to be out..just seems a bit odd

@Jim28: Jim you have hit the nail on the head. The problem is not an injury he's obviously not getting on with Holloway and while I would really like the lad to do well it's got to be on the Oli's terms. Let's hope things can change soon as no one seems capable of hitting a barn door let alone the back of a net with any regularity. We desperately need someone who can score goals and fast ⚽️

As jim28 just said he doesn't play when he's fit so what's the problem.

Probably got up from the bench too quick without warming up, very convenient for Holloway. Do I see another Josh McQuoid in the making. Mind you at least McQuoid got to play now and again.

This situation with Gregory just gets stranger and stranger.
And we are just left with no goalscorer and I do not know where the goals are going to come from.

Really feel that people are reading too much in to Gregory not playing. It's been a huge step up for him and he'll need time to adjust. From what I've seen he appears to have potential but going from part-time footballer to pro in the championship isn't going to be easy. Patience needed here I think.

The next thing is going to be he's homesick, followed by a loan move to a L1 or L2 Northern side!!!!

One thing i do find puzzling is, this article say's gregory has a groin injury, but on the millwall website they say he has a hip problem,so come on millwall what is the real problem with the lad.
At least get your stories right.

What I can't understand is that everyone is fit at the start of the week, and then all of a sudden we have two injuries without playing. What on earth goes on in training?? Most of our injuries seem to come from the training ground or are our players just injury prone?

Ollie has previously commented that Lee Gregory makes good runs and how he needed to sort out how to supply him the ball.
The answer is bringing in Angel Martinez .
I'm looking forward to seeing a fit Lee Gregory and Angel Martinez in the team in the coming weeks.
We need an end product to our possession because our current crop of forwards cannot find the goal.
Tonight he has to play Fred Onyedinma and have a plan B.
We got found out big time in the second half at Ipswich.
