Watford scout criticises Millwall boss over Ranegie deal

WATFORD'S chief scout has criticised Ian Holloway after the Millwall boss signed striker Mathias Ranegie on loan.

During his time as Crystal Palace manager, Holloway was outspoken in his disapproval of the Hornets' use of the loan system.

He said that by borrowing players from their sister clubs, Granada and Udinese, Watford were exploiting a "ludicrous" loophole in transfer regulations.

Ranegie joined the Lions yesterday on a short-term deal that runs until January.

But scout Filippo Giraldi tweeted: "How funny is life someone complain about your policy and then after 12 months come back to you, using what they supposed destroyed football."

The Hertfordshire club's head of recuirmtnet added: "Good luck to Mathias Ranegie on his loan spell @MillwallFC. Come back stronger big man we wait for you!"

The p**** should get his facts right before he opens his mouth. Ollie wasn't complaining about the loan system, he's used it loads himself. He was talking about Watford taking loads of players from their sister clubs back in Italy which didn't count as a loan cos it's all the same club,so the restriction on loans didn't apply to them giving them a distinct advantage over the rest.

At the time Watford had something like 8 loan players from Italian clubs in their 1st team squad. Loaning a "foreign" player that's owned by an English club is hardly the same situation is it. Some people really should know when to keep their mouths shut.

@DANGEROUS: Apparently Watford really didn't want to let him go as he would have been the 1st man in line to replace either Vydra or Deeney, but Ranegie kicked up a fuss as he isn't interested sitting on the bench, so had no choice but to loan him out!

I think that Italian has completely missed the point and should have thought about what he is saying before coming out with anything as he has just made himself look like a complete TW**

We are borrowing a player from a club which is owned by someone other than our current owner/chairman.... Watford borrowed 15 players using a parent/sister company owned by the same person, all on the same books for pay whether they play for Watford, Udinese or Granada...

I couldn't care less what he thinks, I did however notice that jamie O'Hara is a free agent. Wonder if the the club have any interet in him?

@glyngo: Good shout as he is a Millwall fan, but think we need another attacking Midfielder or winger who can create goals, O'Hara is more of a deep lying midfield man like Williams.

The Football League UNANIMOUSLY agreed to change the overseas loan rule a few months after Holloway's comments. It's Italian sour grapes because he beat them in the play off final!

thing is if he scores loads watford will have him back and sell him to a big club, personally i dont like the loan system and also think contracted players should get priority over loanies to play. example gregory

Judging by the amount of dislikes to comments on here regarding this article when anyone points out what Ollie was moaning about , there are obviously a lot of sad ,nothing better to do WATFORD supporters coming on here and having a say cos they feel brave hiding from us in their bedroom. Why don't you all come and introduce yourselves when we play you. You'll run and you know you will etc etc.
