Free agent Jermaine Pennant to train with Millwall squad

JERMAINE Pennant will train with Millwall this morning.

The winger, 31, is a free agent and has been without a club since his contract with Stoke City was terminated in January.

Lions manager Ian Holloway is in the market for another wideman and is pursuing Sean Scannell of Huddersfield Town, but he will take a look at Pennant over the next few days.

Pennant was offered to Millwall by his agent at the start of the week.

The former England U21 international was a Champions League runner-up with Liverpool in 2007.

I'd offer him a month contract to see what he has left to offer us!

I'd snap him right up! A very good crosser of the ball and if memory serves me right when he was with brummies or Liverpool, he had the highest cross to goal ratio in the league but don't hold me to that. A bit of a trouble maker but not a bad player nonetheless. Worth a contract till the end of the season.

Worth looking at. We do need experience so let's hope he's up to it.
Looks like a few going out on loan to offset these possible new arrivals. Can't see the justification in keeping the likes of Marquis. Squad is top heavy already.

@Longfield Lion: yes he was! Still if he leaves an expensive car around the den, it probably won't be there after the game !!!!!!!!

@Longfield Lion: if he's been a free agent since January I wonder how many clubs his agent has offered him to and been knocked back by till he turned up on our doorstep , we're turning into the battersea dogs home of football .

Decent player, probably unfit. Most importantly I think his wages will be a joke.

@conor: fitness is a key factor, if he needs 2 months to get fit them he isn't going to have the desires impact. A lot will depend on his performances in training. I much prefer the Scannel option despite the Palarse connections

Can you please stop with these adverts halfway through a story, especially those that make a noice. Not very good when logging in on the office. OK avdertising might be important, but there must be enough arround the page by now not to need ones bang in the middle of stories.

If he's fit, great - definitely worth a look - could be a very useful player in the championship....

No thank you, he's never fulfilled his potential because if he had he wouldn't be without a club at 31 years of age and if he had he wouldn't give us the time of day and we wouldn't be able to afford him anyway. He's also attracted his fair share of trouble which is something we could do without and besides we don't need anymore wide men when we've got Wooly, Martin & Gueye.

This guy can play and if holloway got him sorted out could be one of the best signings of the season so far. Oli will take a good look at this as he's not about taking on dead wood. Even the Hoff did a job when needed and then Oli sent him jogging on when he didn't realise who was boss. If there's any one who can get the best out of this guy it's holloway and if we get the best no one will be moaning then.
