Gregory should start tonight bloke needs game time simple as? And holloway puts marquis in instead who never makes bench usually? Makes no sense to me? Wasted opportunity in giving gregory a run out in a not that important match..

If we win this game I would be really happy because they have put out a similar squad that played Liverpool last week

I can only assume that Gregory is going to start on Saturday. Not actually a bad XI, save for Marquis, who is League Two standard. I would have put Fred in and Easter as striker. Shows our absolute lack of quality up front clearly.

Sorry but if Saints as expected play a strong side and include Shane Long, we will get destroyed with that line up!!

Hoyte and Marquis shouldn't even still be at the club let alone lining up against a decent Southampton side!

Has anyone seen how marquis plays under holloway yet? I'd say no? you have to bare this in mind holloway turned a relegating squad into a decent squad.

Who knows how marquis may play? If he is selected,

I always thought grabban was gonna be pony, how wrong was that now?

It's obviously clear that Ollie has no interest in this cup whereas it's something that Southampton could win , plus they're looking for a first win to boost confidence. Looking at the line up will Williams be centre half tonight ?

Easter & Marquis up front or a lone striker again? Who's Thompson?

I don't like this side. Our best midfield player in defence surely you rest Williams. Upfront you play Gregory he needs game time. Southampton have selected a strong side Williams don't get injured!!!

Ben Thompson I found out fair play, he's not even on the team photo with the other youngsters so he must have done well to get a place on the bench.

Powell is going to be a very, very good player. Marquis is pony. Hoyte has played alright actually. Chaplow always looks good, with him it's always whether or not he is fit enough. BRING ON FRED!

Williams is completely wasted at centre back. We are passing it well in the middle third and at the back, when the ball goes anywhere near their area it all goes to pot.

I'd rather see a couple of the kids up front than Marquis or Easter. Marquis is not good enough and Easter cannot hold the ball up, his first touch is awful and he doesn't make any runs behind the defence. Out midfield is very tidy indeed.

Southampton going ballistic on their forum about them playing hoof ball. Stuck at work because some twerp decides to give his notice in. Looks like I'm not the only one not at the Den. Powell looked realy usefull against Wycombe got a big future that lad, 20 years old great news.

Playing well enough for a second string side against better opposition. Webster, Williams and Powell the pick for me so far and Chaplow doing OK except for his final ball.

Don't really understand the team selection at all tonight. Seems like Holloway is trying to prove something. Be great to win but be suprised. Strange on from Ollie!

I just dont understand Ollie. 250k for a striker to sit on the bench. Much more of this the kid probably wished he was back at Halifax banging them in.

@potty1: totally agree with you on that one. Doesn't make sense we pay good money for Gregory a striker who has an eye for goal and rather than give him some time on the pitch we put marquis upfront! Should have been the other way around tonight - this guy must be feeling sick at the minute.

The Gregory question aside, kudos to Holloway tonight for a brave team selection. We were beaten by a much better side with no complaints but not disgraced and there were some real positive performances from the players, some of whom have been written off on here. Also watching MK Dons hammering Man Utd in all areas with Benik Afobe playing a starring role off the bench. Now that Utd are out of this cup a cheeky loan bid for James Wilson might be worth a shout?

Feel sorry for the 6,000 or so that went to the game (excl Southampton). We should have put out our best team against a premiership club in a cup game, and certainly not brought on youngsters when 0-1 down. Yes ok if its a league one or two club, but I would be right p***** off if I went to that game and realised we had no intention of trying to win it. And I certainly don't understand why Gregory was not playing from the start and on the bench unused, we need him playing asap and scoring goals.

@ExShadwellmfc: Couldn't agree more, not entertaining and clearly not taking the game seriosly enough for my liking. Since when has fielding a team of Millwall reserves been good enough to beat Premiership opposition. Micky mouse cup or not, should of had a better crack at Saints than that s***.

gregory must play saturday or let the lad go and play elsewhere its not fair to just sit him on the bench whilst our other so called forwards can hardly muster a shot on target between then. feel sorry for the kid

No one knows what's happening in training and Gregory might be havin a mare. I thought we played some decent football tonight until the final third. The strikers were making s*** runs and giving nothing to pass to. Maybe Murray at Palace would be a good loan bet as he gets less time than Gregory!!! Defo need a seasoned striker who knows where to go. Williams and Powell were quality though.

Really enjoyed the game tonight, yes we were ultimately outclassed but the performances of Powell and Marquis were good. Also, we played a passing style the whole game and did give Southampton some problems. Lost yes, but we did play well.

I didnt make the match tonight but i think even in a mickey mouse cup you have to pick a side that can win sometimes a run in the cup can give a team a great deal of confidence
nice to hear the youngsters did well though
