MILLWALL are on alert after it emerged that striker target Matt Smith is poised to meet with Leeds United later this week to discuss his future.

Smith and his agent, who first requested a meeting with the Elland Road hierarchy in June, are scheduled to sit down with owner Massimo Cellino on Thursday for talks.

The 25-year-old has ten months www.health-canada-pharmacy.com remaining on his deal with the Yorkshire club and was the subject of a failed bid from the Lions last month.

Manager Ian Holloway remains keen on the former Oldham frontman and will closely monitor his discussions with Leeds.

Smith was a second-half substitute for the Whites in their opening-day defeat at The Den.

      @LETEMCOME: Welcome Matt?
What about ''fancy a beer Matt''
or, ''you haven't got a prayer Matt''
      or, ''there's the door Matt''
or even, ''look there's a mouse Matt''.
      Anymore?

@LETEMCOME: Yeah, that's a lots better than the others.
I wasn't that impressed when he came on but I think he'll be good for us with Ollie's help.

Sign him up he's a bloody handful for any team in this division was the only positive from a Leeds point of view then that would finish the squad off nicely a lot of competition in all positions except in goal

@dpendet: He was their best player when he came on.... leagues above the 3 "forwards" they started with!

If he was the only shining light for them on Saturday why would they sell him to us??? They got money in the bank from McCormack! Dont make any sense, agent playing us for a better contract. But it is Leeds so never say never. I think theres more chance of Bolina getting up the duff by Zampa!!!!

@weslion77: I cant see why he would want to stay there Cellino is selling players so he can upgrade there stadium to make his assets worth more and only loaning players on the basis to buy them in 12 months they are going 1 way and that's down what a shame

No service? He had two golden crosses and missed them both, one with Forde missing the ball! I say don't judge him on that as he's exactly what we need. Big handful, unlike Fuller.

On Saturdays showingI would not bother, but he was not on long and maybe he was like Morro when he wanted to leave us (not interested) but depending on the money he could be what Ollie wants and maybe he can coach him into a more complete player.
We do need another front man as I dont think Fuller will go a full season at his age so it may be good business, lets hope so.

Thought he was a real handful when he came on actually. All a bit awkward-looking and up in the air but didn't get any real service from a really poor Leeds team but i believe he would be a really strong addition to our forward line. We're missing the big target man and Smith fits the bill for me (as does Hanson of Bradford). If we are able to get him out of that Leeds mess i think we would offer some really strong variety throughout the team. We would / should be able to execute all different types of attacking play. With our squad and the addition of Smith plus Holloway's proven tactics opposition would be hard-pressed to second guess our tactics for any game. Could be the final piece in the jigsaw for some really exciting times down at The Den this season and beyond.......

Surely he would be a decent addition to our squad.
    I hope we get him.

It's difficult to get into a game from the bench. He didn't shine on Saturday and did miss a really good chance. He was a handful though and will be for many defences. If the price is right and the wages etc. We should take this guy. He's came on leaps and bounds since signing for the scumbags. Our club, management and so on can improve him more still

I remember him from his days at Oldham was a decent striker think he would get much better service from our midfield than he got on Saturday I hope we get him ....

I would love us to get him. I spoke to a millwall defender after the game on Saturday and he said to me he found SMITH really difficult to play against, so strong ,really good in the air, he also said he was hoping we sign him.

@Jim28: if we have a million to spend I'd rather we signed someone who can score goals and Smith doesn't , at 25 he should be the finished article , there has to be a proper goal scorer out there and not just someone who's a handful and scores now and again .

He's got to want to play for Millwall otherwise there's no pint bothering. James Hanson may be a better option.

@wappinglion: I'd be pretty happy with either but surely Hanson is the cheaper option but Smith is younger

would a great target man but the football we play now is not that way. so he could be a throw him on for a change of system but i think Gregory will do the biz for us

Seems a bit of a non story again? Ok we want him but until his contracts up he's a Leeds player & who's to say he's unsettled?
Also he's fairly noticeable, if contract talks break down & they want to cash in, firstly there will be competition from other clubs willing to offer far more then us & also i can't see that loopy Italian thing giving him away on the cheap no matter how longs left on his contract?

Does anyone know if there were any talks regarding him at the weekend while they were at our place?

Don't get me wrong, would absolutely love us to sign him, my sort of striker, just think its a little unlikely with Leeds in the driving seat as he's already there plus other competition for him & what we're able to offer? Sorry to sound a pessimistic prat!
