Poll: Where will Millwall finish in the Championship table?

THE big kick-off is just four days away – so it's time for NewsAtDen readers to make their predictions for the 2014-15 season.

Manager Ian Holloway has masterminded two Championship promotions twice before in his career, so do you fancy him to lead the Lions to the Premier League?

Or does another relegation battle loom large? Have your say!

Think we will do much better than last season.
We will flirt with the play-offs for a while but end up about 10th.
    That will do nicely.

An improvement on last season and I will be happy! Also means we are heading in the right direction.

The Championship is too hard to predict, I'd love us to get play-offs but do I honestly think we will get there.... if Burnley got promoted last year then why can't we (although they had Danny Ings and Sam Vokes up front).

    I've gone for 13th.

Lower mid table. I just don't think there's enough goals in this squad to go much higher to be honest.

fed up with the last 6 months of jackets reign, last season at home was utter torture, so need at least 12 -13 wins at home maybe 6-7 draws and i will settle for that. WUBBLE U!!!!

I remember this poll last year, so looked up what we said then, its pretty grim reading...

    6th (15%, 320 Votes)
    10th (14%, 292 Votes)
    8th (11%, 237 Votes)
    5th (10%, 220 Votes)
    9th (9%, 194 Votes)
    11th (5%, 112 Votes)
    12th (5%, 110 Votes)
    4th (5%, 103 Votes)
    7th (4%, 95 Votes)
    1st (4%, 83 Votes)

Meet a Charlton supporter yesterday, asked him what his thoughts were about the coming season he reckoned that were bound for the play offs, he did also think that we would need the six points they will inevitably give us and the three goals that Fuller will score will help our goal difference. I have a 'score' with him that we finish above them. I think mid table would be an achievement with our budget, and we will be much harder to beat, 0-0 draws this year instead a loss. If however Gregory and the strikers can get going who knows flirting with the play offs may JUST be on. All I can say is of all the managers and Chairman in this league you would want ours.

@lennie the lion: Agree that we'll be harder to beat Lennie - with improved fitness and smarter tactics from the off - there should be an improvement from last season.
There's lots of variables to this - IMO, if we stay with the current squad (no more strikers added) I reckon we can pick up enough points to finish somewhere between 12th - 9th...
However, if we do manage to pick up a decent additional striker, whether it be on loan or otherwise - and if our current strikers also manage to hit double figures - there's no reason at all we couldn't finish in the playoffs....
Other variables could include - getting an additional striker in - but doesn't set the world alight.... 10 goals max...
Or we get no one in - but we work well as a team - lose less - and all of our strikers/attacking midfielders get a similar number of goals - hopefully on average, better than last season....
On this reasoning - I've gone down the middle for 8th... COYL.

No surprise we haven't got serious goal threats so think it's lower table from the squad so far and can't believe Bye water still here. Bailey and Chaplow are going to be regularly out especially the latter.

Hope to be proved wrong but do expect a loan or seven this season - just hope they are of the Harry Kane ilk.

IH has quoted on SKY that he is happy with the current squad for the time being. This means we are obviously not going to get the additional striker we have all been waiting for in the near future. Unfortunately, we are still going to have the same problem as last season, creating chances but not putting the ball in the net ,so mid table is the most we can expect unless we do sign another striker before it is too late.

Somewhere between 12th and 20th. Any higher would need a huge improvement and I can't see where that's coming from with the summer signings. Be great to be proved wrong though. COYL

I keep reading on here how we won't do very well cos everyone else has better strikers than us. Whilst in some cases that may well be the true but I'm not so sure all have better strikers than us. We can't be sure GREGORY won't be effective partnering with FULLER or EASTER. I wonder how many of us would have said INGS/ VOKES or NUGENT/ VARDY would have been as prolific as they were had we been asked this time last year, for a start I'd never even heard of INGS before last season ,and NUGENT'S been around it seems forever like FULLER, DERBY were great but a lot of goals came from midfield via BRYSON/ HUGHES . I'm looking at all the teams in our division and I'm not so sure where all these strikers that are going to bury us are, there are some untried ones at Brentford , ROTHERHAM and the like, but that's the same as us ,untried,we don't know yet. Having said that I would like us to get another striker in,preferably SMITH from LEEDS or some other big awkward lump.

I said 21st last year. This year I say 17th. That's because I realise progress requires patience. By 2015/16 then I would be expecting top 10 and 2016/17, if IH is here and keeping faith in youth, then who knows!

Anything above this season is a massive bonus when you think the division we are in is the 7th richest in Europe.

I picked top 6.... think it could be our year - either with what we have banging in goals or with some additional help...!!!!

As I now live in NZ I would love to see Chris Woods back at the Den. It was amazing how much TV time on the news Millwall got when he was scoring goals for us....Plus they have just had the WEST HAM scum here for a couple of games (happy to say they lost both games) with the big Kiwi football star as there Captain and people went nuts over west ham....would be great to get the BIG KIWI signed (if the rumours are true that he is for sale) and start scoring some big goals for us and then get is in the premiership which is where he wants to be. He hasn't been given much of a chance where ever he has gone except when he was with us....so come lad get your backside back down the Den and start scoring some goals for us again.......IH....Look him up.....we need an additional striker

Only one team in twenty seasons has made the play-offs from where we finished the previous season (19th). If we can get in the top 15 this season then our chances of making the play-offs in 15/16 greatly increase. So I'll settle for 15th or better this season. When the likes of Forest are spending 5m+ on a League One striker, 15th would be a great achievement for Holloway and the team.

First of all you need to be hard to beat to be successful and IH by his signings to date has focused on trying to stop the repeat of a minus 28 goal difference of last season with the signings of Edwards, Webster and Briggs. He clearly feels that his additions of Williams and Upson last season were enough to compliment those already at the club in midfield. I honestly think he's being patient and rightly so with the last piece of the jigsaw, a forward. He's either playing a waiting game with Leeds for Smith and I think we'll find out after Saturday, or he has a premiership player in mind on loan. Either way things look a lot better than they have for years and if he was going to sign Zamora clearly has some money to spend. I'm going to stick my neck out and say Millwall the suprise team of the division by Christmas laying in 6th spot with additional players bought in January to push us up to 4th spot and play-offs.

When Olly was at Blackpool I use to love watching them on MOTD when I got home from Millwall the newly promoted underdogs played some fantastic football worked hard for each other and had no superstars in the squad they were just a good team with a great never say die attitude .
Im loving what is going on at our club and although we have not exactly set the transfer market alight I like the new players Olly has bought in and the younger lads stepping up i think in time they will do a job for us .
I voted for us to finish 11th but if it was higher wouldn't be surprised
