Pompey-bound Millwall captain "overwhelmed" by support

PAUL Robinson has been "overwhelmed" by Millwall fans' messages of support since news of his loan move to Portsmouth broke yesterday.

The Lions captain has joined the League Two club on a one-month deal.

Supporters paid tribute to the legendary defender on Twitter last night and Robinson said: "I was overwhelmed by all the messages – it's been unbelievable.

"I'll miss the fans massively, I love representing them and wearing that Lion on my chest. But this loan move is part of the plan to get me back playing at The Den."

He added: "It will take some getting used it. It's been 11 years since I last went out on loan, to Torquay United, and since then I've been involved at Millwall week in, week out.

"But I'm now relishing the start of the new season because hopefully I'll be out on the pitch at 3pm every Saturday at Portsmouth."

Robinson revealed he snubbed interest from League One clubs to sign for Pompey.

"I was really drawn to Portsmouth because of how big a club it is – the prospect of being part of something really big down there appealed to me," he said.

"My wife's got some family down there so it all worked out quite well.

"Portsmouth were the ones who were most keen and they really sold it to me – the opportunity to play in front of 16,000 fans every home game is really exciting.

"I fully believe that the lads at Millwall will have a good season – the result from the Leeds game will be the first thing I look for when I get back into the dressing room on Saturday."

Robbo is one of my 3 favourite all time players along with Bomber and Cahill. Sad to see his Millwall career end like this but at least he's going with dignity. A real leader who'd still be the 1st name on the sheet if it weren't for that poxy injury. Good luck Robbo!

You have always represented this club and worn the badge with pride and deserve to be held in esteem with the likes of Neil Harris. Good luck with your month at Pompey Robbo.

Your one of our own Robbo & for me your only half a step behind the likes of Cripps, Kitch & Rhino in my list of Millwalls all time greats. I wish you all the best at Pompey & I pray that some of the talented youth team cubs we have at the moment show the same commitment & passion for the Lions as you have.

As a previous post said a true Millwall legend along with ,Cripps ,Kitch , Rhino , Hurlock and Harris thanks for some wonderful memories and times .
Also well done Olly nice to see the way you have handled this situation and the respect you have shown Paul even if he is not part of your plans for the future , its a shame that Wise couldn't have show Harris the same years ago

Can’t understand why there are so many dislikes on here for comments praising Robbo? Grow some nuts and say why you dislike the comments or go and play somewhere else….. Toby!
