Millwall defender Robinson set to join Portsmouth on loan

PORTSMOUTH have made a loan move for Millwall captain Paul Robinson.

And the experienced defender is due at Fratton Park tomorrow morning to complete a month-long switch to the League Two club.

Robinson, who was told last month that he does not feature in manager Ian Holloway's long-term plans, has made only one pre-season appearance for the Lions' first team this summer.

The 32-year-old has played in excess of 300 games for Millwall in over ten years at the club and was last year rewarded with a testimonial match against Rayo Vallecano.

But he said last month: "As you get older you realise you want to play as many games as you possibly can.

"If your chances are going to be limited then maybe you do have to finish your career with another team.

"Whatever happens, my links with Millwall are still strong and the club will always be a massive part of me."

Robbo - a sad day but you've been with us for so long that you are already well established in the Millwall Hall of Fame.

    Not goodbye but au revoir

Gutted to see Robbo go, but been the man he is and not wanting to just draw his wages, he wants to play, but sadly IH cannot guarantee him game time, so good luck mate!
P.s some players take note, he wants to play not just look for his wages!!!!!

@dpendet: He has been a very good servant over the years but we have been very very good to him in return. It's time you lot took off your rose tinted glasses, he is no longer up to it at this level and hasn't been so for a couple of years. He will never play for us again and I hope he can find a better move than to a s*** team at the a*** end of League 2 like Pompey. The fact that no one has come in for him reflects this. I wish him all the best and hope he gets a permanent move to a better club but, sadly, it won't be a Championship one.

When you have a look at the money other clubs are spending In the championship it does show what a task it's going to be staying in this division on our budget. #reality-check

Bit early to write off his Millwall career imo, it's a long hard season for our squad. Best of luck in any case Robbo, you owe us nothing.

Probably could still do a job at this level,32 isn't old for a centre back and he has plenty of experience. Loaning could be a good move for us ,if we get short in that position who better to step in. Knows the club loves the club. good luck Robbo always welcome home.

@Jim28: Out in the wilderness. Despite over 70 ' dislikes' from my previous postings, I'm still very sure he's on his way to Millwall before Saturday. I also don't concur with the current popular philosophy that 'Maggie' is our new striker. Ollie is on record as saying he needs to sign a centre forward before the Leeds game and I'm 100% sure he's going to. Wait and see.

Read a nice article about Ricardo Fuller and being friends with Usain Bolt here: also new little video of Ollie chatting: 😉

Good luck Robbo and as others have said this might not be the end of your Millwall career just yet. You only have to look back at the Bournemouth game to appreciate the performance you put in when Beevers went off injured. Rare for me but I am going to question IH's decision to let Robbo go out on loan instead of Shittu at this stage. Shittu is overweight, 18 months older than Robbo and getting over a nasty injury. Clearly Shittu has weight issues year on year and only gets this weight off by playing games and that isn't going to happen this season.

I don't know lots about robbo,s career but respect to the bloke. Long time millwall man . I reckon it would have been hard when that moment came that he had to move on. Good luck and best wishes.

Hope he gets a move for his sake. Selfishly I'd like him to stay and prove himself. Was talking to a fella yesterday about Dunne and how everyone tries to get rid of him but he just ups his game and proves everyone wrong and gets better

He is going out on loan, not being exiled to Devil's Island.
I understand he is doing his coaching badges so I expect to see him back at the den in the future! every career has to diminish and Robbo is making the best of what's left.
