Exclusive: PSG attacker given chance to impress at Millwall

PARIS Saint Germain attacker Jean-Eudes Maurice has joined Millwall on trial.

The 28-year-old, who can play as a central striker or on either flank, linked up with the Lions  yesterday and could feature in an inter-squad friendly this weekend.

Maurice, a Haiti international, has made only 52 appearances for PSG since joining the club in 2008 and has spent time on loan at Lens and Le Mans in recent years.

"Maurice is a big winger," manager Ian Holloway said. "An agent who I know well and get on with has insisted that I have a look at him.

"He thinks he would be exactly the sort of lad who would do well for me and that I would really like him.

"The agent has told Maurice about how we play football and what I could do for him, rather than him being a bit-part player at a massive club like PSG.

"I'll have a look at him. He doesn't speak much English but it's great because Jimmy Abdou has been all over him like a rash!

"I promised Jimmy I'd get him a French friend, providing he's the right type of person."

That was my first thought jim? His appearance record doesn't look good but obviously has something to have been given 6 years at psg? Unless he's another Racon?

His goal record ain't great only scored four pro goals in about 81 games , but I'm guessing he has struggled to make first team appearances and them 81 games are spread over about 7 years so maybe hasn't had a good run of games . Looks like he likes to run at players and maybe has a trick or too so on the wing could be better place for him for us

If he suits then hopefully he will be a good acquisition, he will add some flare up front which we badly need. Great news

Holloway will make the right decision. Okay, he's going to be the best player in the league, but he's the type of player we need! A quick, powerful winger who can go past people and get the fans off their seats! He must have something about him, or PSG wouldn't have given him a 3 year contract.

Anymore get the feeling he could be a N'Guessin ? Not to be negative... If you collected his best bits they would look about the same...
I respect holloways judgement for a player but how much will he see on a trial?
    Dodgey agent.
If its to good to be true properly is .

Any "friends" any where else in the world that we have over looked ?
I am a bit concerned about this term "Friend"......
We are not talking "Friends of Dorothy" are we?

Terms like ring rusty and not match fit spring to mind, agree with the post that said he could be another Ngussen, very uneasy about this one.
Can't he buy Jimmy a puppy instead (a French Poodle perhaps)

@Millwallsteve: so are man city, Chelsea etc , but I bet you wouldn't want none of their cast offs in the side ! This bloke is probably about as good as what we have. As long as he has a good attitude then maybe we should look into it. But people shouldn't get carried away just because they see psg. Mark laird and Ashley grimes came from man city, didn't mean they were any good.

@82wall: that was a different Man City then - City's cast offs these days are like Gareth Barry - Chelsea have extremely good players out on loan - The world cup has shown it isn't all about star names - look what the Yanks achieved with their squad with organisation and spirit. If this guy fits in and has the right attitude and is willing to learn , I am sure his ability is up to our standard

At least we can see him on trial before we jump, which is probably what Ginger did last year.

@Tom_C: Let's be real here, Ollie knows what type of player it takes to play in this league, he also knows the type of player he is after.... if this guy does well for us then great and if not then we haven't lost anything as there is no fee involved.... Win - Win situation!

Not a goalscorer dunny and jimmy has scored more goals then this bloke..you can put 2 or 3 of dunnys goals on utube and you would think he is the sweetest striker of a ball in england...if fact jean has scored more for haiti then the 3 he has for PSG

Nice to see things moving again and liking the look of this guy - could be handy in the championship.
Ollie's done ok with signings so far - he's earned my trust. When the Hoff and Edwards came, most of us were thinking 'hmm, he's got a screw loose....' But they turned out fine... and were a big part of us staying up...
With the exception of Bessone (Big punt for that position - bad playing record) - all his signings have been pretty good - although, we were desperate at that point if I remember correctly - and I'm liking the caliber of some of the players he's been attracting. Working with our budget - it seems it's either - youth breaking through,or players that have been sidelined who've got a point to prove that we're looking at - and IMO it's so far so good! COYL!

@Luke ColdBlow10: With you on your post Luke,a lot of people knocked hoff and apart from his two goals against midd/boro,he made space for other's by the need for 2 or 3 defenders marking him in the box,yes he could look a pillock at times but a lot of that was down to his size,co-ordination is more difficult for a big man, just look at peter crouch can look brilliant or laughable at times
I would not have argued if hof had stayed.

ive not been this excited about an overseas player since the arrival of the two Russians one ended up so addicted to pie n mash he needed help to get up off a chair.... the other was regularly seen leaving Cheeks in Deptford and driving so drunk it took him three and a half hours to get home to Bromley
    ah happy times ....
