Hutchinson keeps Millwall waiting as he mulls over move

MILLWALL have not made any progress on a deal for Sam Hutchinson.

The Lions had hoped to learn last week whether the former Chelsea defender would be interested in a move to The Den after he held talks with boss Ian Holloway.

But no news has been forthcoming from Hutchinson's camp and Holloway did not seem optimistic when asked yesterday about Millwall's chances of signing the 24-year-old.

He said: "I'm starting to get a bit fed up – I'm not a man with the most patience in the world.

"I'm sure it will take care of itself and hopefully he'll make a decision pretty soon. We'll have to see where we fit in with that."

Sheffield Wednesday are said to be confident of clinching Hutchinson's signature.

SWFC are no doubt offering far more money for his salary but he would be a handy player to have. Still, I want to see us bring in a least 1 natural goal scoring Right Winger and 1 tall Striker who can hold the ball up.

Also anybody know whats happening with Simeon Jackson? Left at the end of season, but still hasn't signed for another club as of yet. He looked a threat in the last game, missed two sitters but with a full pre-season under his belt he would be a potent pacy goal scorer for us.

@gatecrasher: yeah but zigic wages are over 6 a week! Did you know that Birmingham City paid more to zigic last season than what they earnt through gate receipts! Don't want him at The Den he would single handedly bankrupt us

This is the type of player I would love Millwall to sign more regularly. Former Premiershite academy products, often trained to play the 'Correct way' and wanting to prove a point after being released. We've a had few in recent years with players like David Livermore, who wasn't the most talented but added a lot to the team.
This lads knee may have been dodgy but if he can keep fit he would be a decent signing. Fingers crossed on this one but if not I'm sure we've got other options in mind.

I think he's holding out to make a better deal somewhere else. Anyone who is like that doesn't really show commitment to any club so do we really want him and would he play with any pride?

@AireLys: If he's got a number of options why would he jump straight into the first deal offered. We don't know his circumstances, so give the bloke a chance. If he doesn't sign for us so be it, he won't be the first and definitely not last to have discussions and decide to move elsewhere.

@beedoscores: Are you seriously suggesting there is a better club out there to play for?

Would have loved him to join us but there is a 99% chance Sheff Weds will sign him over us.

Looks like we could be in for Glenn Murray and possibly Andrew Johnson!

@Bradders: Glen Murray could be a good signing regardless of his palarse link. Tall goalscoring striker.

@bradders: I would be more than happy if glen Murray joins us. He is a proven goal scorer at this level and would be great for lee Gregory to play off of has well.

I'm Sure holloway gave it a shot in the dark, as sheff weds have shown interest from last season,
@bradders did we not try to sign Murray from Brighton under jackett ? And offered x amount per week at the time to be are most payed player we had?
Grant Holt ? Works for the team, his a unit up top, and his a good player (intelligence football wise ) and will want a good season on the pitch not on the bench for villa or Wigan ?

@block 28: they should know fairly quickly if they want to be part of something or not. At least in the end it feels like the blokes who,l remain are the ones who are here for the right reasons. Jump on or jump off !!

I don't know the lad but , my gut feeling is that his ego out weighs his ability. B#llocks to him and move on.

This boy retired aged 21 through a knee injury. He has played less than 30 games in 7 seasons, and I suspect some of those games were as a sub or subbed. I can see another chaplow saga here if we get him, so won't be too concerned if we don't .

@woolwich lion: surely the point of a utility player ,is if you get a player injured or suspended then the utility player can step in to cover that position.yes we need another decent striker, but we also need good cover in defense and mid field.Hutchinson would be a good buy,all this rubbish about if he dont want to come to millwall from the start he can do one [NOT DIRECTED AT YOU],people forget these people are pro's and are out to get the best deal they can so as long as they give 100% when they pull on a millwall shirt i dont care if they argue for the best deal for them selves,or who they have played for in the past as i say as long as they give 100% for us then they are ok with me.
