Preview: Millwall vs. Reading

STRIKER Jermaine Easter returns to the Millwall squad for the visit of Reading to The Den on Saturday after serving a three-match suspension.

Easter, sent off against Southend earlier this month, is expected to be named on the bench.

But the Lions will be without defender Shane Lowry, who begins a four-game ban following his sending off in midweek.

Mark Beevers is expected to replace Lowry in the side.

Andy Keogh and Liam Trotter completed loan moves to Blackpool and Bolton respectively on Friday, meaning boss Ian Holloway will be forced to make two further changes.

DJ Campbell, who came off the bench to score the equaliser against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night, is set to make his first start for Millwall.

And Shaun Williams could come in for Trotter in midfield.

New arrival Ed Upson did not sign in time to be eligible to play.

Reading may name an unchanged XI after they thrashed Blackpool.

Danny Guthrie could feature if he can shake off a calf problem but Wayne Bridge, Sean Morrison, Jason Roberts and Mikele Leigertwood remain injured.

Here's hoping people don't judge the success of this transfer window (or JB and Ollie et al) by the result on Saturday.
Holloway is building for the future, but Reading are more or less the finished article and on a bit of a roll for the play offs now.
Last two home games they've won 7-1 and 5-1!!! BUT they've lost 4 of their last 5 away games?
Lets get after them and have 'em on the back foot early, eh? And stick with the lads if its gets dicey too.

Obviously it is a game we would be happy to get a point out of (if honest), but win, lose or draw lets set down a marker for the effort and passion that's demanded at our club!!!

Well said sir, Rome wasn't built in a day and we face tough opposition today. But I think anyone can beat anyone in this league and results depend a lot on morale and who wants it more- and thankfully we're on the up and up in that department. SO BRING EM ON! COME ON YOU LIONS!! MIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

@grassgrower: I find it utterly amazing that professional players these days earning so much money , feel hard done by because they might have to sit out a match or two - if you are good enough, you pick yourself , right. Which manager is not playing Messi or Ronaldo or Yaya Toure - if you do it , you play - So Macdonald , do it or shut up or f**k off

            @timchimes:

I believe McDonalds' only issue is he wanted to get back into the Aussie National side, and he knows his time is running out, that was a key reason why he moved to us, (guaranteed playing time in a system that show cased his specific talents).
In doing so he turned down moves to China, Russia and Dubai for absolutely MASSIVE salaries.
Lomas being tactically inept really hurt his chances of an Aussie call up, and Holloway's style of play isn't really going to suit him now either,as he lacks the pace and stamina to press the ball upfield and develop counter attacks as Ollie prefers. Sounds like Holloway said as much to him when he left him out of the squad.
In his position, I'm sure most people would at least be thinking about those £50k a week deals he turned down, and looking to see if they still wanted him.

Worth noting that Holloway was very determined that Trotter would leave, and almost seemed to engineer that move, but he has left it quite open ended with McDonald, he laid down the law, but then said its his job to work with him, cheer him up and get the best out of him... and said he has no problem with him.
Compare that to Ollie saying Trotter was disgruntled and would be a problem if he stayed with us... ???

Whatever happens to Scotty it will be for the best, if he is staying its to fight for a place in the team and do things Ollie's way, if he leaves its because he doesn't want to be here.
            Win-win situation.

At last, my 'boner' has gone down after all the excitement of yesterday's transfer day. Seems we have a manager that can entice good players to come to us. Imagine the type of players who might want to come here if Mr Holloway lives upto expectations.
But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. We still have a big task in front of us,starting today against a very good Reading side. It's still early days under the new boss but all the signs look good and good foundations are being put in place for the future.
    Long may my 'boner' continue.

Trotter did Millwall a favour by telling Upson what a great club this is we ought to thank him for that and for some of his great performances. Hope Upson will set new standards, Millwall are entering a new era.
Am about to leave on my long journey to the den, hope to return having Millwall seen off reading with their tails between their legs.

Attending my third consecutive game at the Den this afternoon having not been at all this season before the Ipswich game.

I've been losing the buzz in general the past couple of seasons, just not enjoyed it and lomas was the final straw for me.

Ian Holloway has restored my faith in the club and I've really enjoyed it since I've come back. I've been following the Lions for nearly thirty years and I'm hoping this is the start of a really positive period for the club.

As long as the team give their all the results will follow!

You have actually missed our wins against Blackpool and Leeds great games great football great goals. It hasn't all been bad just typical Millwall . It's what we do

@lincolnshire lion, yes we've had some decent results namely those that you mentioned.

Not just because I lost the 'buzz' some non footballing reasons for me not going but what I was trying to say was that the club have shown ambition in bringing in Ollie and allowing him to start to shape the team the way he wants. I've decided as have others to back the club by returning on a more regular basis. This has noting really todo with this thread I just went off topic, back on topic, Millwall to win 2-1 this afternoon!
