Holloway irked by Bolton's approach for Millwall midfielder

IAN Holloway fears Liam Trotter could be left "upset and disgruntled" if a move to Bolton falls through on deadline day.

Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman, a long-term admirer of the midfielder, made a move for Trotter on Thursday morning, but has yet to agree a fee with the Lions for his services.

And Freedman may be forced to pull the plug on talks as he struggles to finance the deal – which Holloway says would leave him with "a massive problem" come 11pm tonight.

He said: "I'm not very happy with Bolton at the moment, to say the least.

"They have had a sniff but are waiting on someone going out before they can push ahead. If that deal falls through, they will have upset and disgruntled one of my players.

"I don't have a cat in hell's chance of keeping Liam because a club like Bolton will be able to offer him a big contract and I can't compete with that.

"With that being the case, I will have a massive problem if they don't come up with a deal."

If I was trotter I'd be so wrapped knowing the level of support and understanding that Ian holloway offers. Hope he thinks bout things really hard, the wall boys are at the start of something real big, in my country once a player makes it known they interested in a change, they are generally ushered to the car park. I'd want to play for IH, I'd be absolutely desperate to be part of it.

I said it before, but I believe LT needs a change of environment to get his career back on track. Tuesday night was the first time in years that I have seen him actually sprinting to get to tackles first, so that just goes to show that he can do it if he wants to. He is quality, but if he needs to move and wants to move, let him go!

@glyngo: reckon it's a certainty that IH will shape the squad he wants and there will be no doubt that the ones that remain will have their heads in the right place. He seems like a bloke who can extract the best out of a player and genuinely loves and cares for his boys. The smart ones will give it back to him in spades.

I want Liam to stay, let's be clear we do not know what crap his agent is feeding him-agents are a menace and are out to get a cut of any transfer fee. I hope Liam has the sense to stay at a club where he can play a pivotal role and not go to a dump like Bolton where he will flounder. He ought to realise that they are not queuing up to buy him.

You only got to listen at the ground matches to hear what fans think of L. Trotter, he's lazy doesnt chase the opponents or the ball, gives the ball away and hits the post from 3 yards. Say no more!

Said it once, and I'll say it again, we're in a relegation fight and players like Trotter are a luxury when we need players that will roll up their sleeves and get stuck in and fight he won't!

Trotter's dead to us now. He strolls through games showing zero urgency and very little effort. We'd be losing a player that could be very good but has rarely been average in my opinion. Move him on ASAP.
