Preview: Millwall vs. Sheffield Wednesday

MILLWALL will be without injured goalkeeper David Forde for Tuesday's crunch clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

Manager Ian Holloway has confirmed that Forde will be sidelined for "the next few weeks" after straining a thigh muscle against Ipswich Town ten days ago.

Stephen Bywater will start between the sticks in Forde's absence.

Midfielder Richard Chaplow, who sat out the Lions' warm-weather training camp in Portugal with a calf strain, remains in the treatment room.

New signings DJ Campbell and Shaun Williams could make their debuts, but Jermaine Easter serves the final game of a three-match ban.

Wednesday were dealt a major blow on Monday morning when star striker Connor Wickham was recalled from his loan spell by parent club Sunderland.

Defender Joe Mattock is banned while Reda Johnson (hip) faces a late fitness test.

@macman: macman could be his chance tonight to make a name for himself, but if all went well in Portugal with the defence then maybe he wont get too much to do, but either way lets hope for the 3 points.

I DONT SEE A PROBLEM IN BYWATER BEING BETWEEN THE STICKS. HE IS A GOOD KEEPER. ALSO THE PRACTISE WILL BE GOOD FOR HIM, ESPECIALLY AGAINST A WEAKENED TEAM. NO ONE LIKES US , WE DONT CARE. STORMIN' NORMAN.

Be good if our own dont boo Bywater like when he came on against Ipswich although it was drowned out by the fans who clapped him because after all he was wearing a Millwall shirt. Cant use the excuse about Keogh chinning him for sticking up for Lomas and the West Ham connection as that has been shown to be b*******.
If you really care about Millwall surely you shouldn't abuse your own keeper because of his WHU connection. It showed a bit of character in my book that he came here in the first place.
Anyway I can only be responsible for my own actions and I will be getting behind him from the off.
    Good luck Bywater.

yes of course - fully behind him - however I was not impressed with him dealing with high balls against Ipswich - Wednesday will pile in high balls for their big lads at corners and free kicks if we give them the chance - Holloway being a shrewdie though will have clocked this and given Bywater platform boots

        Seems logical to me too.
Players are always gonna get a bit of stick if they dont perform but he got his whilst he was putting his gloves on and getting ready to replace Forde.
Counter productive if you ask me.

So fordie has a bigger problem than first thought, this means bywater play,s in goal.Where doe's this leave the west ham hate brigade are they going to support bywater or are they going to s*** him off as they have done in the past, only because he is ex west ham,
If they support him then all well and good[I REALLY HOPE THEY DO].
If they s*** him off it could be said they are stabbing Millwall in the back.
This must be a terrible decision for these people to have to make, taking into account the bile and animosity they have been writing about him in the past.
My hope,s are that he does not have to play a blinder, but if we are under pressure i hope and pray he does play a blinder.
Finally holloway has told the player,s he will not allow them to hide behind the anti west ham attitude i hope that holloway was directing that statement to the anti west ham fan,s as well.
Whatever happen,s tonight we must get behind every player in the team whether we like them as individuele,s or not.
So please Bywater must be given plenty of support from the start no matter what.
Thing,s are looking really interesting and good for us at the moment,so any fan who has a problem with any player now is the time for us to wipe our mouth and cheer the team on to a win, after all this is crunch time as far as getting away from the threat of relegation is concerned,as i see it the manager along with his coache,s are most definetly doing their bit ,going on the ipswich game the player,s are doing their bit so please anti west ham fan,s please do your bit, swallow your pride and get behind bywater no matter what.
And let me end by saying i am not against you for hating west ham {i dont by the way],what im against is people knocking an ex west ham player who is wearing a MILLWALL shirt.

Cannot wait for tonight's game. Ipswich proved there's plenty of pride, passion and quality and hopefully now there's some fitness to go with it. Wednesday always seem to be a bogey side though. I remember we scored a goal against them and as our players were celebrating the ref disallowed the goal and let them play on. Needless to say they scored anand won 1-0. We got relegated that season unless I'm getting my years mixed up. As for tonight it's time for payback and another 3 points on the board. A draw at Donny In the other game would suit leaving the wallies down the road in a dangerous yet highly humorous position. COYL

@southlondon1885: I remember that game. 7 or 8 of our players celebrating by the corner flag. Ref gives free kick and they run up the other end and score, ridiculous.

One of the best players in the squad with the ball at his feet. He put in a good shift in the ipswich game. Decent and composed on the ball and when he plays out wide he's responsible and tracks back too.

With Forde out its vital everyone gets behind Bywater and who ever plays for that matter. I'm sure we'll see something of Campbell and Williams, although it looks likely that Campbell will start on the bench. Hopefully there'll be a decent crowd tonight and a good atmosphere to get everyone going.

Sky Sports transfer blog 17:37 says we are eyeing a move for Simeon Jackson from Germany.

It does not specify if its an actual transfer or loan we are after? It also mentions that Charlton or interested too.

Where and how would such a player fit in around Morison, McDonald, Easter, Keogh, Campbell?

@JonnyBanks: Well I think Easter is being cleared out soon. Morison returns to Leeds at the end of the season and I can't see him being retained-not on his current form anyway- and we've only got Campbell until the end of the season as well.

His name was sung by three stands as he walked off.

@Longfield Lion: In context that could be a massive point. Demanding wins at home against form teams is in my humble opinion optimistic at best. All the bottom sides are starting to liven up and basically fight for their lives, there are no games that SHOULD be won from now on in for me. Each point earned will end up being a point gained.

Millwall were denied two clear penalties when Shaun Williams was pulled down in the are and DJ Campbell was sent tumbling when he was through. Sounds a right git of a ref. Trotter assist to DJ's diving header to score the equaliser
