Fredericks could extend Millwall loan before end of January

MILLWALL are already planning to extend the loan deal of Ryan Fredericks.

Fredericks, 21, joined the Lions from Tottenham last Friday on a 93-day loan and scored the winner of his debut against Ipswich Town.

Ian Holloway wants to keep the attacking right back at The Den until the end of the season, and is hoping to agree a deal with Spurs before the close of the January transfer window.

The Premier League club will wait until the end of the month before sanctioning a long-term move for Fredericks in case there is a defensive injury crisis at White Hart Lane.

Chief executive Andy Ambler confirmed: "Spurs are doing exactly what we would do.

"It's great for us that they let him come out and we'll be discussing what the next step is before the end of January."

Fredericks admits he too is hoping an agreement can be reached with his parent club.

"I wanted to come here and play football week in, week out," he said.

"There are 20 games before the end of the season so it is a good amount of opportunities to get some games under my belt."

Meanwhile, Ambler says Millwall had no qualms about signing DJ Campbell from Blackburn Rovers this week – despite the striker's arrest in connection with spot-fixing allegations.

The 32-year-old, who scored 30 goals in 66 appearances working under Ian Holloway at Blackpool, was released on bail until April.

"There is no issue," said Ambler.

"DJ has been signed to concentrate on his football and that's what he will do with us until the end of the season.

"He is on bail, he has not been charged and, as far as we are concerned, he is available to play for us for the next few months."

Great news again and can't wait to see DJ in the thick of it. The whole atmosphere has changed at Millwall the gloom and fog has been blown away by the appointment of Holloway and we must get behind the Millwall revolution!

I know it's early days, but against Ipswich we looked a lot more balanced side with Malone and Fredericks bombing on. I know both have a lot to learn defensively but with them pushing forward it means other teams can't keep coming on to us. RF's first touch on Saturday was definitely Premiership class.

@Adsy77777: always been a Dunne fan and still am, but having two attacking full backs is exciting!

Yeah, I like dunney too, but it seems Hollie 's looking for a different type of fullback.

@bordersarebest0170: Yeah a real one, sorry borders could not resist it, it was a great feed. but I do think that Alan Dunne has now had his day at the Den.

@Barnlion: I dont, as much as I like the attacking full back there will be times towards the end of the season where a more defensive minded player will be needed (maybe to come on and make things a bit safer) and up will step Dunney.

Dunne, Robbo and Chaplow can drop a division now that we are going upwards, again.

@BUSHWACKER14: Sadly, I think your right about Dunne and Robbo, but IMO Chaplow is still a class player, definitely good enough for this level. For whatever reason we haven't seen the best of him yet.

@BUSHWACKER14: Still need a squad - we are not in a position to have 18-to players of championship class

@bordersarebest0170: That's true borders IMO but more worrying for Alan Dunne other than my opinion, it appears that the manager seems to share my view of the player hence the quick loan of Rayn Fredericks in the right full back position.

Dunne and, alarmingly, Robbo can no longer cut it in this division. There's quite a few more who can't and IH appears nopt to waste time finding replacements.

Out of everyone in our defence (as things stand) I think Robbo could find it the hardest to get in the team- because if Shittu continues to perform how he did in the Ipswich game (last seasons form)- and Beevers and Lowry both want the other CB position... where does that leave Robbo? Dunne on the other hand is still a good alternative to the new spurs lad if IH wanted someone more defensive minded in that role for certain games. Of course Smith will also want a say in the matter... Smith going on loan? Any truth in that?

Jack Smith is a good player, like Ollie stated he wants defence to go forward and add pressure. J.S. does this.
