Momentum the key for Lomas as Millwall head to Blackburn

STEVE Lomas wants his side to build up a head of steam heading into the hectic Christmas period - starting with a positive result against Blackburn Rovers.

The Lions' trip to Ewood Park on Saturday starts a run of five games in 18 days.

So after picking up four points at The Den last week, Lomas has challenged his side to rectify their away form.

"The games come thick and fast now and this is the perfect time of year to find some form, because you can pick up points very quickly," he said.

"It is important that we match recent performance and energy levels on Saturday because I felt we worked harder than Nottingham Forest and Wigan in our last two games.

"We have put in a couple of decent performances and now we really need to build some momentum going into the Christmas period. The challenge for the boys is to reproduce our home form on the road."

Key to stopping Blackburn will be keeping top scorer Jordan Rhodes quiet.

"Those goalscorers are massively hard to find," Lomas added. "If you look at last season, Crystal Palace got promoted because they had Glenn Murray in their team.

"Blackburn are not a one-man team but Rhodes is a massive player for them. Without his goals last season they could well have been relegated."

Time to show we don't follow up a few good home performances by getting slaughtered away from home.

We won twice up at Blackburn last season - there a better side this year, but still only three points ahead of us. I'm going for a 2-0 win with goals from Morison and Waghorn - failing that we'll lose by four or five goals.

  3. Got to say SL I think we all think the same, so all you need to do is deliver the points "easy anit it"it would be nice to ease away from the bottom half over the Chrismas period.

    • @Barnlion: Hoping the players deliver the 3 points, as it's only down to them once they are out on the pitch and put in a whole-hearted performance!!

If we go with 2 up top, with Easter and Morro, then Waggy on the wing can't see why we can't batter B'Burn!

      • @Bradders: Yes you are right, but he picks them and what formation they will play and has to sort out the tatics before and also during the match, but like you I cant see why we cant beat them, even if we go behind, lets dig in and battle like a Millwall side should, and not roll over. COYL!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd just like an away win! Theres nothing quite like that to restore some faith! Be great to get that against these lot! To be fair, although they are quite good at home, I think I would be dissapointed with a draw tomorrow. Show us you are on the up after a really rocky start boys! COYL!!!!

I do hope we do not get the same referee we had at our evening home game against slackburn last season at tomorrows./ game.i somewhat remember one of their players running with the ball from the fringe of his area to our area ,then diving in our area without contact and got awarded a penalty which gave them a undeserved draw.they cheated and would possibly been relegated.i hope we win 1_0 again and again oh by the way Bentley, bentley your re a c***,Bentley your a c***

This is what I consider KEEPING UP MOMENTUM: let in an early, sloppy/avoidable goal, have a good to decent 20 minute spell. Leak 2-3 further goals and give interviews stating we need to cut the errors out.

"because you can pick up points very quickly" - wouldn't have thought that when the team has 5 games in 18 days Steve. Quick off the ball that one!

I think another draw is on the cards here, Waghorn's last game? Then surely he should play Easter if he is to be the replacement so as to get to used to playing with Morison? Waghorm should be sub in case he is needed.
