Millwall to continue talks with former Wolves winger Hunt

MILLWALL are continuing to discuss a deal with ex-Wolves winger Stephen Hunt.

Hunt has been training with the Lions since the start of the month and boss Steve Lomas is keen to bring him on board before Saturday's match montauk-monster.com/pharmacy/imitrex against QPR.

Chief executive Andy Ambler was out of the country over the weekend, meaning it has not yet been possible to finalise terms with the 32-year-old, but he will train again tomorrow.

Hunt has been without a club since leaving Molineux in May.

Hunt may have been a good player once but I do not know how good he is now.
My only reservation is that we are filling our mid field and forward line with 30 somethings (except Waggy) and we seem to lack that injection of pace that younger players can provide.
We have become a bit one paced and predictable, but if he is good enough to do a good job for us then bring him on, he certainly has the experience.

@Sealion: during our run of poor form I asked the board via email why we had filled our ranks with players past there sell by dates ,I also asked why we had no youth team players in our first team.our squad is I am afraid way below parr to surely survive the onslaught of the championship and lo and behold buying another player in his thirties wont solve our problems lie with the board in my mindmr lomas ever mounting problems,by the way the board did not answer in any informative way.

You should try to get a response from the Fan on the Board.
Good luck with that....I've tried several times on several issues and to date, have had no reply whatsoever.

@Sealion: Agree Sealion. He’s 32 and can’t get in to a 1st Division side! He may well have been good in the past but I’d much rather we saved our money to help pay for Waghorn if or when the time comes.

Well , if nothing else he'll provide some balance out on the left. We only really have Woolford out there and this would provide good competition for that left wing spot.

He's been seen in Amsterdam with Julian Clary exploring possible transfer ins by the back door.
      Apparently.

Yes and apparently, collectively, they've managed to solve the rear entry problem behind the defence at the same time.

Just do not get it. Let two fast young wingers go out on loan then try to sign an old slow expensive alternative. Still as long he tries 110% and gets what Millwall fans are about eh Steve?

I have my doubts if Hunt is as good as he used to be, but i honestly dont understand why we are paying another wage to another winger when we have Henry and Feeney out on loan

Not sure on this one. he was good but, if he still was then im sure there'd other clubs fighting for him.
I thought SL wanted players off the wage bill so he can get defenders in.
We already have too many old boys in our squad is there really a need for another one on a short term deal ? derry is an expensive option in the middle but is not better than abdou imo and we let two right wingers go out on loan granted feeney can play left but he wants to play on the right and looks and plays better there. Martin is more than capable of filling in for woolford so this really is a no go.
Maybe he offers something more defensive on the left side than we already have even so id rather use the wage available on a young prem reserve.

Yeah, this hardly bodes well for the future of the club but right now we need results and if he can help us win game then he will be a good signing.

These type of signings rarely work. He was unwanted at relegated Wolves and is nothing like the player he was several years ago. I presume he would only be offered a short-term deal, but he'll be unfit and a rejuvenated Henry and Feeney would offer much more.

Only reason I remember him is for the head injury he inflicted to Petr Cech, other than that can say that he's a player that stands out. Can't see him being an improvement on what we already have.

No Lomas no. What is the average age of our squad FFS. We need some hungry young players who would love the challenge not players looking for a final contract. I would like us to go and get someone like Andre Gray at Luton who we looked at last season. Take a punt on some lower league youth. Totally too many journeymen in this current squad for me. Dressing room must be boring as f*** probably talking about what garden centre's there all going following matchday. GET SOME YOUTH IN THE SQUAD.

@lion01: he was released because he is injury prone having suffered foot, calf, and a hernia injuries over the years but has been readings and hulls player of the year etc so he can give all.i think it might be something to do with being forde"s international room mate.

He's got an injury history as long as an octupuses tentacle and I don't really see the point of blowing Henry's and Feeney's wages on another left sided midfielder.
No matter how he impresses in training- and I've got nothing against him personally- I do think it's the defence that needs sorting first.

Yet another player - seriously?! SL keeps changing the team and if this goes ahead, it will be another change to the team. With the squad getting bigger how will he keep them happy? Still no decent GK to challenge Forde either or another RB but let's look at a winger because that's why we let in 9 goals in the last two games...

For all KJ's faults, he did try and keep a majority of the team playing together but now it's like rolling a dice as to who will play.

Either Lomas is going to be the greatest Millwall manager in history, believing in his own abilities and he's totally convinced he's going to get it right or, he's going to be in the same league as Peter Anderson- and please don't get me started on that.

Should have kept Batt ! he cant stop scoring goals ! I believe Lomas is trying to please the fans with signings to paper over the cracks in the squad ! He is obviously struggling with the players we have ! I just cant see why the board didn't throw this much £ at Jackett, all at once. I think he would have at least built from the back and made us hard to score past ! Lomas has just turned us into an all tit no a*** kinda team, too top heavy.
Defence should be our 1st line of attack right now. Start grinding out some clean sheets even if it means nil nil bore draws ! At least it will give the rest of the championship time to catch up with our appalling goal difference

I agree mate, and i don't think Lomas knows how to do it. We are defending like drunken sailors and he wants another pensioner on the wing. What is worrying is how much better our players do when they go elsewhere. Instead of wasting money on rubbish no one wants, get the unpopular Pulis in to steady the ship. His football may not be popular with the purists and the armchair fans, but he, backed by a good chairman, and Dave Kemp, made Stoke a premier league club. In the past he even made the Gillingham Gypo's hard to beat.

@leemark: agree Lee, but that's why he signed Connolly. That didn't exactly work out did it. I think the board should just close the bank and tell SL to get the current squad to start gelling. Buying players at the end if their career is not the solution.

I cannot understand Lomas on this one. Surely the team needs another defender! Get Feeney back and find a full back. To keep signing older players is asking for trouble injury wise.
