Preview: Bournemouth vs. Millwall

© Keith Gillard
© Keith Gillard

ALAN Dunne and Martyn Woolford are expected to overcome minor knocks in time to face Bournemouth on Saturday.

The duo sustained impact injuries against Birmingham City on Tuesday but boss Steve Lomas is confident they will be for the trip to the south coast.

However, Scott McDonald is a major doubt with an ongoing knee problem. The striker has now had two injections and is unlikely to be rushed back to action.

Lomas has hinted he could make several changes in the wake of the defeat at St Andrew's, with the likes of Shane Lowry, Lee Martin and Richard Chaplow pushing for starts.

Bournemouth are set to hand a debut to goalkeeper Stephen Henderson, who was brought in on loan from West Ham yesterday.

Norwich City loanee Andrew Surman returned from an ankle injury in the midweek defeat to Leeds United and could start.

Richard Hughes is available again after suspension.

Rubbish preview. What about the fact Hammer Jack Collison will be making his debut after joining them on loan. Saw a piece with him saying he loves playing against Millwall and his Hammers mates have already been urging him to help Agent Lomas!!!!!

@Lonz: He made his debut in midweek, so JC neither here nor there in terms of team news/injuries and suspensions, which is what previews are for.

@Alex Aldridge: Sincere apologies, Aldo, I should, of course, have said home debut. Personally as well as straight forward team news, I prefer previews to include interesting quotes like Collison's or how Lewis Grabban feels about facing Millwall having already scored six times this season.
Still, what the hell do I know!!!!!!

It looks like ole ginger bonce will have to bring in Connolly and Martin for the injured Dunney and Woolford. I would also like to see him play Lowry instead of the S*** and Chaplow replace Trotter. I would put Morrison on the bench and start with Waghorn and Easter.

    My Team
    Fordey
    Connolly
    Lowry
    Robbo
    Malone
    Jimmy
    Bailey
    Chaplow
    Martin
    Waghorn
    Easter

    Subs
    Marshall
    Osborne
    Shittu
    Derry
    Trotter
    Morrison
    Keogh

I hope that the Shits, Derry and Keogh are not required as they are more suited to Orient than the Wall!

We can only hope whatever our manager does will be a big improvement on the DISGUSTING performance on Tuesday against the midland vermin...

@mfcmike: It wouldn't be Millwall if Grabban didn't score tomorrow. However, he could go on to star for Barcelona and I still wouldn't regret the day he left us - a complete waste of space.

Abdou/Bailey (or defensive midfielders) need to communicate with centre halves, and want the ball more, to pass it out of defence. When any of our defenders have the ball, our midfield must come close, and receive the ball. This will eliminate most of our poor ball retention, and will make a huge difference. Then the others must find positions to also receive the ball. Also Forde needs to throw the ball more, not kick all the time.

Its easy to say, this league is far too quick with no space to pass properly, but thats not true. We are pressing really well at times, but then we try to play at the same pace with the ball! We need to slow down and be more controlled with the ball. Dunne needs more help too, every game he's too deep. Abdou and Bailey are the same players, they cant play together- this is our main problem. Chaplow must play with Martin. (Trotter dropped) We need to get the pace right, Press fast without the ball, Play more controlled with it. Love the wall.

@Alexdangelo:A couple of weeks ago our midfield could do no wrong, Trotter is our best and most skilful midfield player he was magic against Leeds for the second goal. Chaplow hasn't done much leave him on the bench. I think Millwall will be back to their best tomorrow.

@Peckhamlad: I agree would not drop Trotter, SL needs to get his system and tactics right, the win away at Charlton playing 4-3-3 was due mainly to the front three working hard to close down, playing Moro in the same system at Brum you would not get the same work rate from him IMO SL should play 4-5-1, lowery & Robbo, same FB'S,same 3 midfield, Martin & Woolford W & Waghorn up front, 2 goals will win the game for us

Can't see him playing Lowry at centre half and Lomas will be guarded against making too many changes. On the back of a 0-4 drubbing, and based on the blame lying with the defence and midfield and lack of support for our striker(s) he'll go for a defensive formation to guarantee a point at least.
On that basis, I'd agree with your team with some changes-
      Forde
      Dunne Osborne Robinson Lowry
      Abdou Chaplow Bailey
      Martin Woolford
      Waghorn
      Subs
      Bywater
      Connolly
      Malone
      Shittu
      Trotter
      Morison
      Easter.

Anybody who plays football regularly as I do or spectates football regularly as I do at the Den should know that Lowry is not a footballer. I find it difficult to understand why anyone who has seen him play for Millwall would continue to back him as a professional footballer. He 's an absolute shower.

Clinton Hill is not a footballer but you need these type players in your team. In fact I would say Lowry is more of a footballer than Hill. Yet Hill is plying his trade with the best team in the championship and starting regularly.

@Peckhamlad: It is embarrassing but it is no good calling for the managers head every other week, it is the p*** poor performances by the players that are causing it. Who ever we had as manager ( that is a manager who we could afford) the results would not have been much different, you still have the same players. It might help if we didn't get bloody stupid sendings off (not Lomas's fault) We not only suffer for the rest of that game but loose them for three more, but in Dunnes case that might be a blessing.
Lomas needs time, or what is the alternative a revolving door for the next series of managers who we loose patience with. I am f****** p***** off but sacking the manager is not the answer.
Who else could we get ?

22 goals conceded in 11 games, maybe Mr Lomas you might stop ignoring the need for a quality centre half to anchor this team alongside Robbo. Good 'keeper, good midfield players, good forward players, average defence with no strength in depth. Worse squads in this league than ours but better squads than ours have been relegated. Lomas's future depends on whether JB is prepared to gamble the rest of the season on him but I'm not sure he's a gambling man. Make that 23 goals in 11 games.
