Henry joins Wolves on loan with a view to January deal

JAMES Henry has joined Wolves on a 93-day loan, it has been confirmed.

Former Millwall manager Kenny Jackett made an approach for the winger last week but was initially turned down, with Steve Lomas stating he was "very much part of his plans."

But following further negotiations over the weekend, the two clubs agreed terms on a three-month loan with a view to a permanent deal in January.

Henry had been left out of the Lions' squad in recent weeks and held talks with chairman John Berylson on Saturday, prior to watching his teammates beat Leeds United 2-0.

Lomas must have a replacement in mind.

I think this move by Millwall is best for us, as he's never been the same since his first ankle injury, never seen a return of the pace he had, he's even getting slower now, perhaps a blessing in disguise

@aeojt: Agreed. No pace and a big ego does him no favours.

Henry always looked to be the best attacking option in a very poor team. Now we seem to have a decent attacking side he looks very average at best. He wastes far too many attacks by either making poor crosses or poor choices. One wonder goal in a 1000 attempts always flattered him. I wish him luck but he is looking more and more like a League One player so perhaps it is time he moved on.

KJ also likes Wirght, so that could be another loaner out of the door. Things are looking much rosier than a few weeks ago so anyone coming in is going to have to be good. I thought Martin looked ok on Saturday when he came on, so I don't think we would miss Henry too much.

@beedoscores: I thought Martin looked really good when he came on on Saturday; for the most part, Henry, has not consistently performed or shown the improvement most of us hoped would come. As someone else has said, best move for all parties. If KJ wants Josh Wright, I am happy to give him a piggy back all the way to Wolverhampton!

I don't think he could play the team the way Lomas sets Millwall up it's much more down the middle now putiing Henry there we will never score he just can't shoot if he wasbin the position Woolford was in Saturday if would of gone miles over I thibk this just tells us the quality of the playets with have now that im not bothered if he goes.

Lomas said he wouldn't consider permnant deal unless it was around 1.5million? I don't think they would of matched that?.

I think 2 months ago Henry would have been a big loss. It shows how far we've come in that time that in all honesty I don't think we'll miss him at all. What I do hope is that come January, the board don't forget that we are no longer in the habit of selling our players on the cheap.

Interesting! I understand JB wasn't keen on letting him go, so SL seems to have won that particular battle of wills! Is it just a coincidence that our dramatic upturn in form coincided with JB's arrival from the States? Makes you wonder who's really calling the shots and whether a few heads have been banged together!!!

Can't help thinking this is a mistake however if wolves have come anywhere near lomas's valuation As reported in a previous page then I think it's great business however we all know what a tight fisted git kj was so I doubt it.

Maybe the money could go on waggy??

The wheel of life turns and players come and they go, the most important signing any club can make is the right manager, so lets hope that the way SL is setting our team up at the moment, which is producing results will continue for some time yet.

If James Henry has run his course with Millwall then so be it and I would thank him for what he has done and also wish him the best in the future (other than if he plays aginst us) lets all hope that we have signed the right manager to move the club in the direction we all want.

As well as Henry I wonder what the future is for Keogh because he has also suffered a dramatic loss of form in the last year. SL is starting to build his own team and it isn't just Jackett's deadwood he is moving out but some of the players KJ considered to be an essential part of his squad.

Think he's been a good servant to the club over the time he's been here. At one point looked as if he could go on to be a really top class championship player, but as others have said never fulfilled that potential and probably time to move on! Good luck JH.

    By mid-January James Henry,Shaun Derry,Liam feeney,Waghorn & Conolly(The RB) could all be gone.
This could mean Lomas has some loans lined up in January.

@bermondseylion: I sincerely hope so as that would leave us very thin on the ground and we will also need a replacement for Morro at the end of the season.

@Mo Slater Fruit and Veg: Mo Do you mean that you want a winger who can beat the full back and then deliver a tell cross into the box, because that does not sound like James Henry or Liam Feeney during there last couple of years at the Den.
But as you have mention Andros Townsend, then you must mean a player who is just off making it and we can turn them into the real thing, I like the sound it it, have you got anyone in mind who could do this job for the Lions.

wish him well , hope it works out for him , cant honestly say he would get in our team at the moment any way , he dont fit into the system were playing , happy with the players we have , would make sense to use any money we get in january for him , to buy waghorn .

SL made a recent comment stating some players have " gone stale". He made no reference to who , but , odds on James Henry was one of them. Shame really , with a decent final ball and work ethic that was bigger than his ego , he would've made a very good player.......Time to move on..

KJ always rubbed his belly and said how good he was! Personally I think he's been out his depth since we got promoted so let him go and get rimmed by KJ - woolford is looking like what Henry should be!! Doubt we'll get a replacement in... Probably just recall Feeney next month!

@TheBermondseyBomber: Berm still think he will bring in Odubajo from Leyton O RM a future star, for about the same money we will get for JH 500K or so, think Waghorn might be out of our price range come Jan and Leicester may need him for their run-in

@Weller: not sure as waghorn is out of contract at the same time as Henry but can't see us getting more than £200k for JH - year left on his deal he's on a good wage though so it's a good move for all concerned I think - sorry about the multi-comment fit - technology problems!

Next out will be Josh Wright and by end of January maybe Derry, Connolly and Marshall (if he is still here). I there's an incoming it will be Waghorn either on a permanent or extended loan. That'll be it and, as things stand, that'll do me nicely. Highly likely that in the reserves we at last have a real prospect in young Pavey

to be honest under KJ last season Henry was guaranteed and start no matter what his form was coz he was one of KJ's favs, under Steve Lomas NO one is assured of a start! you gotta put the work in on and off the pitch, in my opinion if you dont wanna work for the team then goodbye!!!! He WAS a good player for us but we have got better players now to be fair.

With Feeney and Henry moving in we are starting to look a very narrow team. I think the new formation 4-3-3 removes the need for out and out wingers though.

    Not bothered in the slightest
Out with the old an all that
Good player on his day but very inconsistant imo
Reckon Stevie Lo has another player in mind as thats two right wingers he's let go in a week
I know he loves the 4-3-3 but think with those two now gone he'll need one in unless a fringe player takes a leaf out of woolford and malones book.
Cheerio james and pls dont f*** the deal up for us in jan.

I'm not so sure that SL would have an immediate replacement in mind seeing as JH hasn't made the first team let alone the bench in the past couple of games. Obviusly it would be nice to bring someone fresh in (i.e. a natural winger) but would he replace someone in the starting lineup and then force one of our first teamers out and at the same time adjusting the shape of our team, again? I'm worried Chaplow isn't happy already, came here on the thoughts he would probably be playing centre mid but now he's bench bound!

The problem was and is that both KJ and Lomas should have had James Henry playing the roll he did against Hull City at our ground when he made all the goals 4 if I'am right and was man of the match, or did James Henry lost it after that great performance, I enjoyed watching him, shame if he wants to go .....good luck Henry .
