Preview: Millwall vs. Leeds United

MARK Beever's knee ligament injury has given Millwall manager Steve Lomas a selection dilemma ahead of Saturday's visit of Leeds United to The Den.

Karleigh Osborne has been on the bench for the Lions' last two matches, but vice-captain Danny Shittu could be recalled to fill in at centre back in Beevers' absence.

Lomas has stated that Scott Malone (leg) and Scott McDonald (knee) are both fit after picking up knocks against Charlton last weekend.

But the Northern Irishman will be forced into at least one other change to his squad, with striker Steve Morison ineligible to face his parent club.

Leeds midfielder Luke Murphy is expected to return for the visitors having sat out their Capital One Cup defeat to Newcastle United in midweek.

Lee Peltier (groin) and Sam Byram (hip) are both doubtful.

@Barnlion: osbourne for me , got pace , which we will need , looks like a good prospect to me , with robbo talking and helping him could turn out to be decent , and a plus side for me is every time ive seen him play , he looks like he has a goal threat at the other end from corners

Shittuuuuuuuuuu for me..Experienced head needed tomorrow in my humble opinion. Being dropped has hopefully woke him up to his below par turn outs this season. Time to step up again Danny.Cant wait for kick off. COYL.

@wall2wall: Get where you are coming from, but would you rather experience over ability? Osbourne has shown he is capable of handling himself in big games, specifically Charlton away last season where he looked solid.

I think Shittu is a better player with more experience. I reckon the Leeds strikers would prefer to face an inexperienced CB at this level. I dont think Osbourne has more ability than Shittu. He may be faster but that doesn't mean he is the right choice for tomorrow.

Would like to see Osborne given a go, he has far more agility and pace, aside of which it must be pretty soul destroying warming the bench for two weeks then being discarded for Shittu!
Think he has earned the chance to play, even if it is such a tough encounter.

Shittu has become a liability since he was given a new 2 year contract and is yet another deadwood member of the squad. Play Osborne against against Leeds and once Lowry has finished his suspension play him at Centre Back and leave Malone at Left Back. When Beevers is fit again we would then have Robinson and Osborne to cover the right sided Centre Back berth and Beevers and Lowry to cover the left side. This would give a good balance to our defence with everyone playing in their natural positions.

@denslions: Danny is certainly not "deadwood" he was player of the year last season and although seemed unfit at start of season is a capable centre back and experienced as well. Rather him than Lowry any day of the week.

i would not even have lowrey in the team, let alone at centre back, there he would be making challenges in our box, in my oppinion he is crude and clueless of how to challenge without fouling, and whats worse by his own admission on millwall player he has no intention of changing,so how stupid that you don't even want to learn from your mistakes

@bordersarebest0170: I would like to see him sold as he is a liability and cannot be relied on to stay on the pitch thus causing disruptions that we do not need.
We need a settled side, we have enough problems with injuries as it is so we can do without his s***.

In my opinion I think the starting line up should be:
    Gk - Fordey
    Rb - Dunney
    Cb - Osbourne
    Cb - Robbo
    Lb - Malone
    Cm - Abdou
    Cm - Trotter
    Cm - Bailey
    Rw - Waghorn
    St - McDonald
    Lw - Woolford

Shittu should start. Player of the season last year. Granted he looked out of shape at the start of the season, but even with that I still think he's better than Osbourne. Just needed a kick up the a*** for having too many pies over the summer... Back to form he's one of the best CB's in the league. Gotta beat Leeds, 3 back to back wins without Lowry in the side, what a surprise? The fella is an absolute liability. I've seen him play about 20 times and every game he looks like he's gonna get sent off or give away a pen, literally can't understand how he's a pro footballer, he may be an athlete - playing Aussie Rules or Rugby, but he's a terrible defender/footballer.

I would give Os a run out and have The Shitts on the bench as long as he does not scoff any pies while he is watching us stuff those dirty northern barstards....

As for Lowry it is no coincidence that our team is better off without him! The guy is a total liability and I hope we sell him, Henry and Keogh in January!

It should be Shittu, he just needs to keep his head and pass the ball more, I think Lowry will probably be the choice left sided CB when he returns, a position I prefer him in. He is too static for a LB. Osbourne is very right sided. Shittu is awkward with both feet, but may be up for Leeds physical challenge. ... It's a tough decision.

@JonnyBanks: could be a very sagacious move for Henry. Wolves have an excellent chance of bouncing straight back up again, and quite often that same momentum the team are already experiencing enables them to carry on and over achieve such as we did in our first season back in the Championship, subsequently when they come back up they can quite regularly make play off places or even automatic promotion! Either way good luck to the Lad, can't be a nice feeling being continually sidelined while watching your team struggle, then all of a sudden they start winning and you are not included I the mix!!

Hopefully that is the case, last season he was excellent until his injury but has struggled since, lacking pace and unable to beat men is not the hallmarks of good winger, im sure he will do well in League 1 and come back better player.

Osborne for me. I've said it on here time and again Shittu is a liability at the back. No pace, always falls over when the ball goes near him and looks at the ref for freekicks/goals and turns on others to blame for his sloppy defending. Personally I don't think Osborne is great as he seems to run along with people rather than put a challenge in however he has speed and height and hopefully will work well with Robbo. COYL on my way to the Den now.
