Millwall centre back ruled out for six weeks with knee injury

MARK Beevers picked up a knee ligament injury against Charlton on Saturday which will keep him out of action for up to six weeks.

But the Lions are hopeful the 23-year-old will not need an operation to correct the problem.

Boss Steve Lomas told the club's official site: "It's obviously a blow for us and for Mark at a time when we appear to be turning a corner.

"Fortunately surgery doesn't appear to be necessary but we are resigned to being without him for the next few weeks."

@DiggerWall: I am a bit selfish because he has been playing well and we are starting to get it together and again we are hit by an injury in a key area of the team, lets hope he comes back as quick as Morrison, and who ever replaces him starts where he has left off.

Lowry at centre half for me, once he's ban is finished of course. Shittu is a fcuking dinosaur! Absolutely woeful footballer who this season hasn't even done the basics you'd ask of even your 'oldest fashioned' centre half of just heading and volleying! I honestly hope I don't see Shittu in a Millwall shirt again.

Need experience rather then pace for such a big game for wall. lowry needs some time on bench and think about how to play football for 90mins without being booked. Osbourne hasn't been playing so i would put shittu in, lets not forget how he performed for us last season so he deserves he's chance to make it into the first team again.. but i could be wrong!!

That's bad news, he's been playing well and the two centre backs seemed quite comfortable. Shitu needs to step up and show us what he's made of.

I would like to see Lowry be given the nod for the centre left half position when he is available again. He always said his best position was CB so I think we could see the best of him playing there and we can keep Malone as first choice LB.

Would rather Osbourne was given a chance. Agree with comments about the lack of pace with Robbo and Shittu and the fact that Shittu has gone from winning everything in the air last season to being beaten in the air against smaller players, costing us goals. Would even go as far as saying i would rather a short term loan.

I would like to see Lowry at centre back. He certainly isn't a left back and may find it easier at CB. I believe his disciplinary record is so dire because he gets played in the wrong position. I'm hoping Lomas will now see that. Keep Malone in!!!

I thought Beevers was our best player on Saturday, a pretty faultless display. A real shame for him.
Lowry has to get the call based on his performance at CH last season, it looked his natural position. Forget the yellows, any true CH playing out wide finds it difficult against pace. Put him in the middle and he gets more time to read the game and is less exposed to diving in to those stupid fly tackles. Couldn't have a better mentor to play alongside either. Said this before on here, lack of pace at CH isn't an issue unless you get caught out of position or go wandering where you're not welcome, Mr Shittu.

That is all we need just as we have started to get a grip of the championship. Beevers had a smashing game against Charlton. No option other than Danny and he will have the chance to prove his worth. Osbourne though is quicker and hope he gets a run out soon.

    No more injuries please!

If Shittu hasn't made the squad for the last two games and Osborne on the bench then the first question is why. Shittu can't have become a bad player overnight (though he's been poor so far) so its' either a fitness thing (probable) or discipline/row with manager (unlikely). Police called to training ground? Sounds a load of b***** to me unless someone burgled the dressing room. I think Osborne in for his pace (I rate him anyway and think he'll be a very good centre half for us) with Shittu on the bench. Not a great start for the Leeds game especially when Morison can't play.

This is where the management team earn some of their bunce. They see them all on the training field so should have someone ready to step in. I like the idea of Osborne along with rock steady Robbo. Can Derry play centre half anyone know? In case the occasion might get to a young lad like Osborne. I've just lost faith in Shittu.

Think Shittu was riding on a bit of a high last season, that may be the reason for such good form last term. However, whenever we played a team with a strong nippy striker he looked very much below par and slow to react. Lets be honest, he isn't the greatest when put under pressure with a ball at his feet. IMO we've gotta give Osbourne a run-out; he's younger, fitter, faster and more agile and not to mention probably just as good as Shittu at one on one defending. Against Leeds we will need his speed and agility at the back. One thing Osbourne does lack is experience in big games, a presence and voice on the pitch and an aerial threat, which is what Shittu provides at the back I suppose. Would love to see Dan back in the team for Leeds, fighting for a permanent place in the side... But I do get the feeling he could end up being a liability?

Osborne was on the bench vs. Charlton so logic dictates he should start against Leeds. I have mooted on here in the past that centre half is the best position for Lowry but as can't play Saturday the only other options would be Shittu or Smith. Personally, I think Lomas will go with Osborne as I can't see any sense in having him as back-up in the last game and then not playing him when he's needed.

Forgot to add, really don't fancy Lowry at CB or in fact LB to be honest, don't really know where he fits in. Besides being a tenacious tackler and our "set piece expert" (I joke), I can't pinpoint his standout qualities either. Everyone on here is saying how clumsy and reckless he is, and unfortunately that is true (to a certain extent).

Osborne over shittu for me every time.
Shittu has a good footballing brain, no doubt about it, but it must be said that he's looked poor this season. He didn't maintain his fitness over the summer and now that Robinson has rightfully ousted him he's no doubt p***** off. Last year's hero and today can't make the bench. Whether there's problems at the training ground or not, he's going to find it very hard to get back into the starting eleven now. Millwall have evolved since last season but unfortunately Shittu has not.

Shittu did bloody well last year in certain games where the opposition played to his strengths, if we can agree this was the best Shittu and he is nowhere near those standards then I feel its best to keep him well away, he strikes me as a motivator when the going is good but on the flip side he strikes me as a disruptive influence when it's not going his way. Rumours he left the ground against Blackpool too??? I don't know, its a tough one.

he is big and storong and as I have said quick as well which will also help Robbo who like Shittu is not the quickest but has a very good footbal brain, but what ever side he picks lets hope the winning continues COYL!!!!!!

My only concern with Lowry at CB is the number of yellows and reds he gets. Damaging enough when he gets them playing wide at LB but in the centre of defence we can start seeing the number of penalties increasing.

Before we all right Shittu off, we have to remember that there were a large number of people who had did the same with Jimmy and Malone, a spell of not making it to the first team ended with both playing their socks off and becoming important players for us again.

Hopefully Danny's enforced absence over the last couple of games has given him the kick up the backside he needed to dump some weight and work on his fitness in time for Leeds

@crossenoughtogrowl: IMO the difference between Shittu coming back into the side, as opposed to Jimmy A or Scott M is that they both LOOK FIT, and he doesn't. (By that I don't mean fit, as in "phwoar" LOL). Yes, they've had to bide their time on the bench, in the reserves, training and keeping the faith. Yes, you can't pick everyone (obviously). However I cannot see in a million years Shittu turning his obvious "bulk" into a more "athletic" look. Shittu has been playing this season, and has NOT cut the mustard. Osborne has resisted the temptation to go on loan, preferring to wait his chance. So I say, stick him in and let's see what he's made of. I mean ... it's not as if he's a complete unknown is it? I mentioned the word "athletic" earlier - by that I mean looking really sharp at whatever size or shape you are, and having a good engine in you which in modern football is vital. That coupled with what I call a footballing brain is just as important as the ability to actually kick the ball. Great players are so as a consequence of their positional and tactical play just as much as what they do when the ball's at their feet (or head, for that matter!).

Leeds are hoping to bring in a striker on loan before Sat, Becchio & Fryatt have been mentioned, if Shittu does play I feel we could cope with either of those, they also mention Sharp, he would be more awkward to deal with as he seems to like to score against us but I think they are on a run of three defeats so if no one comes in for them on loan it could be a good time to play them

@NICKOLA: Can't see this and would surprise me if true. Would mean that Lomas doesn't want Osoborne, Shittu and Lowry because they're 3 centre backs that should be able to step into the Beevers role. Playing well though he has (for 2 games) Mark Beevers isn't the Saviour and if the squad is any good the team should cope easily with his absence. We will see.

I'd have to agree with that. Due to Beever's injury I suppose we are going to be linked with such players. Unless Lomas gets a couple more out on loan, I can't see anyone else coming in and Everton aren't going to loan him out so he can sit on the bench at Millwall. Either that, or Lomas isn't happy with Shittu and doesn't think Osborne is up to it or both are carrying injuries. All conjecture of course and we'll see on Saturday who replaces Beevers.

I have seen Duffy of Everton a few times and he looks a good prospect.

I personally feel there is a lot more to The Shitts poor form this season and feel it may be time for him to be loaned out and got rid of in January.
It would be great if he could take Henry, Keogh, Smith, Wright and Bywaster with him...
