MILLWALL striker John Marquis has joined Portsmouth on loan.

The League Two side have signed the 21-year-old for an initial month, but can extend the deal up to the full 93 days allowed under the terms of an emergency loan agreement.

Marquis is yet to make a Championship appearance for the Lions this season but came on as a substitute in the Capital One Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest last month.

He told Portsmouth's official site: "I'm down here to do well and score as many goals as possible. It would be good to get a run of games and improve my sharpness.

"Pompey are playing http://onlinepharmacies247.com/paxil_generic.html some good football at the moment and I want to be a part of that.

"I've been down here twice before and sat on the bench, so I know all about the atmosphere at Fratton Park."

Pompey manager Guy Whittingham added: "We've had our eye on John for a while and we are delighted to be able to bring him here.

"He is a strong boy who can link play and run the channels. He provides some more competition for places in our squad."

Marquis has scored six goals in 48 career appearances at The Den.

      Yes it is.
      Good for all concerned.
I think Lomas has now decided that he doesn't need anyone new so can now start concentrating on loans like this. Hopefully a few more out and about soon.

Hopefully get out other young players out too and boot out the s**** like Derry.

Surprised Fred Onyedinma hasn't gone out on loan and he's just playing for the u21s. Haven't heard anything about him which is strange as he's supposed to be amazing!

Guy Wittingham, a very good striker, should be able to pass on valuable (and much needed) knowledge through his experience ! Nice move.

Yes a good move for all, JM could move onwards as he has potential.

Portsmouth fans have been turned over and the FA stood by, so good luck

Shows I'm getting mellow, I got slung out of Fratton Park once, thems were the days and the atmosphere!

Wish John well also, maybe has been said there are a few more going out shortly, after Tuesday night and especially if we do well Sat you get the feeling some players may not be in contention for awhile, Derry, Keogh, Smith cannot see them staying around if they are not playing, we will need players like Keogh going permanently if we want to have a chance to sign Waghorn

      @Weller:

Yeah, I agree about Keogh. Think he's one of the players who's gone stale, and I much prefer a player like Waghorn at the club who is young and hungry.

@Kennyp: Also agree about Keogh, he hasn't done much for a long time now. Reluctantly I would suggest that Henry should go as well as he is not half the player he thinks he is, he has been very ineffective for a long time. The Jury is still out on Lowery but if we keep him it should only be as a CH, that is if he can be trusted in the penalty area.

@Sealion: the Henry statement is a fair one. Inconsistent. But then I suppose if he was at his best every week there's a strong chance he would be elsewhere anyway.

@Sidcup_Lad: they can extend the loan to 93 days if they want too after the 1 month but no more and they cannot re-sign him on loan again after that 93 day period, same for us with Waghorn, we will not be able to sign him again after his loan period ends back end of November, could be the same scenario as with Wood but at least we have Moro & Mcd, see Moro starting with Waghorn on Sat as he may not be able to play against Leeds
