Preview: Millwall vs. Blackpool

PAUL Robinson is set to be recalled to Millwall's starting line up for the visit of league leaders Blackpool to The Den on Tuesday night.

Manager Steve Lomas hinted at Robinson's involvement after the Lions' 5-1 defeat to Derby County at the weekend when he said his side needed "more leaders" on the field.

Lomas will have to make one enforced change with left back Shane Lowry serving the first of a three-match ban. Scott Malone could come into the side or Mark Beevers could move over from centre back.

Steve Morison is set to be involved for the first time since undergoing a hernia operation, while Martyn Waghorn is pushing for his first start after scoring against the Rams.

Liam Trotter could get 90 minutes after his substitute appearance last Saturday. Jermaine Easter is touch and go with a hamstring strain.

Blackpool are without defender Jack Robinson, who is suspended.

Paul Ince's side will make a late decision on the fitnes of Craig Cathcart, who has missed the Tangerines' last three matches with a knee injury.

We need a result tonight... its going to be tough, a wet tuesday night, disgruntled fans and players lacking in confidence, hopefully the few of us who make it tonight can get behind Millwall and turn this poor start around!

I cannot travel 180 miles to see the game tonight, privatised rail is too expensive as is the petrol. So wish the team whichever it is the best of luck, love them to win of course so I can go to bed without nagging everyone. I hope Feeney is at least sub, he is underused and has the sort of pace we need up front. Hope everyone gets behind the team tonight.

Forgot about encouraging the fans to turn up tonight, the most important thing is that the players turn up for once 6,000 or 7,000 millwall fans watching a team that's running their hearts out for them will sound like 15,000 come on you lionsssssssssssss

As it is now 2 o'clock and presumably the board meeting has ended, Mr Lomas has still got a job. From what is mentioned in this post, he may be just about to pick his best 11, for the first time. To include Robbo, Trotter, Malone, Waghorn, plus Bailey and or Mcdonald or Morrison. As I have said before, with Robbo on the pitch, he will lead by example and show those that didn't seem to care less on Saturday how it is done. As we are stuck with Lomas for the time being, lets get behind the team tonight, and just maybe miracles do happen.

Not only should Robbo play but he should do the pre match team talk. Make it clear to everybody exactly what is expected from a Millwall player. I believe that if we score first tonight it could kick off our season so as the 80's chant used to go 'attack, attack, attack, attack, attack, attack'!

Need more leaders? The players need to stand up and be counted, remind the opposition who the home team is and they are not going to be pushed about like they were on Saturday. Doesn't matter who starts as long as they give 110%, if they do then we should win. The new players need to know you have to earn everything at Millwall because you won't be given anything from anyone, least of all the referee.

Like I've said on previous posts SL must eat humble pie and pick players he didnt sign who have pride and hunger to beat every team they play, some of his signings are good on paper but have yet to deliver on grass, Robinson and Jimmy must start they have Millwall running through them its amazing what belief can do to a team and those two will be the catalyst to start our season off properly

if Lomarse picks Morrison ahead of Waghorn and Mcdonald who were the ONLY players to put in a shift on Saturday then he needs an assessment under the mental health act!
    My Team:
    Forde
    Dunne Beevers Robinson Malone
    Feeney Bailey Trotter Woolford
    Waghorn Mcdonald

    Substitutes
    Marshall
    Connolly
    Osborn
    Jimmy
    Chaplow
    Martin
    Morrison
I would leave Shittu out until he loses 2 to 3 stone, keep Keogh out until he wakes up, leave Henry out until he learns the Millwall ethos and not play Lowry at left back ever again!
Derry can sit with his family in the stand and cheer us on, Easter can come back when he is fit and Marquis, Obrien and Bender can to go out on loan.
Bywaster and Wright have my permission to clear their lockers and leave the building!

I cannot see us winning tonight. Would obviously love to be wrong. Lomas was not only out of his depth but he also s*** himself and hid away. How can the players want to play for someone like him. I will never forget watching him in that second half from the dockers upper. Sat down, hiding on the bench for most of it, folded arms, hands in pockets or head in hands. Upon the final whistle he darted down the tunnel and left his players to take the flack.Real leaders of men do not behave in such a way. They are out front taking everything first. Those character traits may be good enough to be Captain of West Ham United but will never be acceptable and welcome at Millwall Football Club.

@wongo: I'm with you but seeing as the board made the appointment will they admit they cocked up, will they acknowledge that they have devided the club. It feels like the chairman and board have no regard for the future of our club and will make decisions which are not fully backed by the fans and dont care. Would Steve Perryman be given the managers job at Arsenal, would Kenny Dalglish manage Man Utd....no but the board appoint a man no one wanted and a man who had no english managment experience, so who will they give the job to next.....my guess will be whoever the cheapest one is from a group of nobody's who can't get a job anywhere else just like last time... The board are to blame for this shambles as much as SL

All the cries for passion and players to play for the shirt and eleven leaders simply covers up the fact that we are being outplayed and out thought by the opponents. It's not blood guts and thunder we require firstly (although I would expect that week in and week out) what the call to arms should be is for creativty and guile.

I worry that the calls for passion is simply an excuse to cover up for the fact that we cannot compete at this level.

Saturday was worse than white dog s*** and arguably the poxiest performance I have seen a group of players wearing Millwall shirts put in EVER... However I have followed Wall since I was six and it will take a lot more than a soppy ginger bloke and a handful of horror show performances to keep me at home... Especially if I've already bought a ticket???

We need to get loud, get behind the team and create a horrible atmosphere for the team in Orange not Blue.... Time to throw the teddies back in the pram and get real people, away teams must love come to The Den!!!

I have said this time and again, they always bring Dunney back in when the s*** hits the fan. He will make some mistakes but generallyIis reliable and a fighter. Dunney and Robbo back in the team is the best news I have had all day!

Here's a quote from Lomas in tonight's programme...

'Talk is cheap. We will be judged by what happens over the next 90 minutes, and I will be looking for each individual who puts on the shirt to take personal responsibility for making sure they do their own jobs right, and restore pride in us as a team and a club.'

Lets hope he does his job right also.

Blackpool have had 68% of possession in first half, tells a lot about the teams failure to keep possession.
