N'Guessan set for Swindon after cancelling Millwall contract

FORWARD Dany N'Guessan is set to join Swindon Town after Millwall cancelled his contract by mutual consent.

N'Guessan held talks with the League One club over the weekend and the Robins are now confident of completing the deal before Monday's transfer deadline.

Blackpool are also interested but N'Guessan is not keen on moving north.

The Frenchman is expected to move to Wiltshere on a permanent basis, although no fee will be exchanged between the two clubs.

The move had temporarily broken down last week, with the suggestion being an unlicensed agent had attempted to insert himself into the negotiations, but talks were resurrected.

The 26-year-old fell out with former Lions boss Kenny Jackett at the end of last season and has found first-team opportunities limited under Steve Lomas.

@frank: I'm aware of that but it's really bad business to buy a player give him wages for a year and do nothing with him and give him away for free? Just throwing money away. It makes more sense to loan him to Swindon and get the wages freed up and give them the chance to buy him at the end of the season or any other club who would be interested having that he has a successful season.

I may be alone in thinking this could be a mistake and a pity. N'Guessan is a good player who really has not been given the best of chances. We may come to regret losing him if he starts banging in the goals for Swindon and for a club like Blackpool to be interested shows he is not without quality.
A move may be for the best though and give him a chance to prove himself. Good luck Dany.

@Peckhamlad: I make you right mate but I do think his attitude lets him down and he's not good for the club so without a doubt I think it's best he moves on

@Lincolnshire Lion: the only technical flaws I see is his first touch and his passing - he has pace power and can strike a ball.... I've watched him enough his attitude is what bothers me so hopefully he'll get his move and we can get £5k a week off the wage bill

          @TheBermondseyBomber:
That more or less sums it up - can't control the ball properly and is unable to kick it where he wants to.

I'd say those were pretty difficult handicaps for a professional footballer to overcome.

@Lincolnshire Lion: I have seen enough to tell me he is a good player and has a lot of finesse. Too much for Millwalls fans perhaps and does not suit Millwall's hectic style and long boots up field. He could not adjust.

You have to laugh an un liscensed agent involved the blokes a joke, would rather go into the sticks of Swindon than go north to Blackpool. ...... My fingers have never been so crossesed.

One of my least favourite Millwall players of all time

TBH The £5k a week we have been paying him for so long can now be put to better use, to slightly contradict myself i was quite happy to see him get another chance but can't seeing him fitting into the team they way it's set up now. The additional quality brought in by Lomas is just what we needed and is really showing positive signs on the pitch. Onwards and Upwards and just a few more to move out the door before a couple of additions that will really show us having a strong, competitive and consistent side that will match most teams on their day. Can't wait for the Derby game and hoping the fans will be backing Lomas and players 110% like we used to at the Den. Would dearly love to see Bailey score against the Anorak's as well lol 🙂

I thought that SL was giveing everyone a clean slate but it seems than this does not apply to DNG then, as he has not used him since he made that statement regarding clean slates, but to be honest this will not bother me and will save a little bit on the wage bill so at least thats some good news.

If he does go I wish him well and I hope he keeps his hands warm where ever he goes too.

He got to play away from home but Lomas was never going to risk incurring the ire of Milwall fans at home. Whether Lomas rates him or not, simple truth is that he is going and that goes towards bringing in a defender, which has to be a good bit of buisness.

A right back is definitely a priority and I hope we can sign one before the transfer deadline. My fear is that SL will use the freed up wages to sign Derry on a season long loan instead.

He's going to do thay anyway.
The hope would be that others can be moved on to facilitate defenders coming in.

@denslions: I have that same bad feeling on the Derry situation, in his comments after the game he said Derry was outstanding and seems to really rate him. I'd rather see full backs come in or if he is intent on a defensive midfielder he should get some young fresh energetic player in for cover. Fingers crossed he goes with the full backs.

Best outcome for DNG and Millwall, he didn't have much of a future with us as he would have had to played a blinder for the rest of his career to undo the damage he had done.

Glad to see the back of DNG. Showed no passion or commitment to Millwall and mugged his fellow team mates and fans off during that Palace game last season. Should of sold him to Charlton when we had the chance.

Here, here! He wanted a second chance with the club and the fans when nothing else better was on offer and gave it the large one about commitment to the club etc but we all knew that he would walk away at the first opportunity that presented itself and will probably s*** us all off in the next couple of days. How come Charlton aren't interested anymore? They were willing to pay money not so long ago but now not interested in a freebee? As for Blackpool I can only think they wanted him as a replacement for Tom Ince or the head programme seller has been taken ill, lol
