Millwall stalwart grateful for reception during testimonial

PAUL Robinson has thanked Millwall supporters for the standing ovation they gave him during his testimonial match against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.

Robinson was substituted after 47 minutes to rapturous applause from the 5,193-strong crowd – and watched on from the dugout as Steve Morison's penalty secured a slender win.

And the 31-year-old, who was accompanied by daughters Ellie, Izzy and Maya as he led the teams out at The Den, said:  "The fans have been great throughout my career. I love being captain here, so I am grateful we could all celebrate together. It was very moving.

"It was a special day and nice for it all to come together – there's been a lot of planning and hard work to get here, so I'm really pleased. I hope the fans enjoyed it too.

"I didn't have that many touches of the ball, although that was probably down to the way they played and the way they were very patient in possession. But we kept our shape and discipline well, and made our chance count when we got it.

"The intensity and the competitiveness of the match got the crowd on their feet – even though it was a friendly, we got a really good workout ahead of Yeovil next week."

@Barnlion: This rumour has been flying about all week. JB replied to this rumour and said that "have you ever seen me sell anyone just for the hell of it" or something like that and Sl has stated that he aint going anywhere!!!. But you know what, if Lowry did want to go or if SL thought Nicky Shorey was a better option i would be inclined to agree. Malone would learn a lot from Shorey I think and Lowry is a CB not a natural LB. Also, Frazer Richardson or this Giovanni fella are much needed IMO Dunney isin't Championship standard, too many mistakes (Sorry Dunney)

@TheBermondseyBomber: Yeah that's right Bomber he also played for Ipswich, at Real Mallorca at the moment but they got relagated last season and he is only 26 so just coming into his prime (if he is any good) but if they get him more competion for places can only improve the club.

@TheBermondseyBomber: He has plenty of experience including International. A right back just what we need, at the age of 26 could be a good long term signing. Lets hope its true.

@hants lion: It would be great if we could sign him but what do you reckon his wages are? An international Right-Back from Holland who has lots of experience? Don't want to put a downer on things but can we afford his wages?

@MillwallFan14: Perhaps if we get him free? Probably not, sell Lowry to Celtic if the rumours are correct then you can pay his wage. To play for the wall, of course you would take a pay cut.

@no5tom: No 5 Tom, Adam Smith was a good full back and would have improved our right side but he is old chip paper now, Lowery is who we sholud be trying to keep and also try to get the Dutch lad as well.

Robbo dominates strikers and very rarely loses a header, you can see so called top Quality strikers disappear out of the game when he marks the target man. You are a legend Robbo and I goot say I would have you back in the team before DS, even though he did great for us last season.

Yeah, I think RB is a position where we lack cover, this makes a lot of sense if he is good enough,

Well done Robbo, I thought he done alright on Saturday and everyone there done you proud and rightly so, great servant to the club, proper old school footballer and will go done in Millwall history as one of our legends. Although he didn't have too much to do on Saturday as Rayo Vallecano were all pretty playing it about in midfield but never properly threatened and were a right bunch o. Cant wait for Saturday, hope all the boys playing tonight get through without injury....

@MillwallFan14: I've got to say to financial fair play system has really helped us this transfer window, so much talent being brought in makes me excited for the game against Yeovil, but knowing our luck we will lose 3-0.

I'm really enjoying the design and layout of your site. It's a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a developer to create your theme? Outstanding work!
