Ex-Millwall boss Jackett hails Robinson ahead of testimonial

FORMER Millwall boss Kenny Jackett has paid tribute to Paul Robinson ahead of the defender's testimonial game against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.

Robinson was Jackett's captain for the vast majority of his five-and-a-half years in charge at The Den and has described the 31-year-old as "Millwall through and through."

Jackett, now head coach at Wolves, said: "The big thing about Paul is his consistency. He is fantastically consistent every game and training session. He has a terrific attitude and influence on the whole group.

"He's mature beyond his years which leads me to believe he has a future career in coaching and management. His commitment to the cause made him such a popular player with myself. In my time at Millwall, he was a very positive influence on and off the pitch.

"Your club needs spirit, attitude and determination throughout a season whenever you get setbacks, and you need character to come through – Paul's character is second to none. You need guys like him around.

"He's a popular figure at The Den and rightly so – he's Millwall through and through."

Sounds like he is letting Robbo know that he would not mind him joining the KJ Old Gold Revolution at Wolves if he does get in our starting line up, what about a sale two players for the price of one I can think of at least 2 DNG & Martyn Woolford thats a start.

Got that right. Hopefully he's coming to watch the game on Saturday with an empty mini-bus and returning with all seats occupied.

@Longfield Lion: I think the main reason why KJ hasn't come in for any of our current squad is......he bought them and knows what a waste of time our fringe players are !

Woolford/Wright are a possibility, but can't see him asking for Marquis or DNG.

hope kenny takes Marquis. would give him some great experience in a lower league club. Kenny has always shown faith in him so hopefully he will take a gamble and take him on loan.

@jake1234d: His job is to get them promoted, which won't happen with Marquis up front. I think he is more suited to Dag & Red or someone of that ilk. He might take Wright though as I know he likes him. Def won't take DNG, and I'm afraid no-one else will either.

Yeah, I think KJ will be buying in strikers and I am not sure that he rated JM just at this time. With a solid midfield around him I think Wright could flourish, so maybe he would fit in there or with our lads, Bailey and Trotter@beedoscores:

@glyngo: Wrights too lightweight for my liking imo not championship standard. Would hate to undo the good that has gone on by playing a weak link.
Still that's what this site is all about, different ideas and opinions.

@Sealion: I like Wright. I think he has some great potential ability. Would be a shame to let him go, but I can't see him getting in the first team unless there are injuries.

Robbo won't be going anywhere. We need the likes of him, dunny and forde around even if they don't start every week.

Another rumour (and that is all it is) is that we are looking at Paddy McCourt, who is currently at Peterborough on trial. Seems to be a good winger, but I think we have enough of them.

Hands off kenny ... The king is dead!! long live the new king.

I don't think we need any further additions at present ( would be great to keep shorey) Lets see how we fair come January.
Could do with rid of a few in IMO.

@Surrey Lion: there is as much chance of DNG joining Kenny as there is me doing the middle for the Yeovil game!

It's surprising there are a few supporters still passing judgement on Millwall players who haven't even kicked off the season yet. It's up to SL who he wishes to keep in his squad. I understand he has been quite impressed by D N'Guessan and others mentioned so far. The SL influence may have a magic effect on a few players. Give the guys a break and get behind our team and manager. Let him judge.

I am looking forward to tomorrows match hope the weather does not spoil it.

@Peckhamlad: I would normally agree with what you are saying, but did you see DNG's last run out against Palarse last season. His strop got him subbed off 10 mins after coming on because the whole team was suffering. Had we lost that game we might well have gone down. Maybe DNG is committed to the cause now, but like an unfaithful husband, he has a lot of making up to do!

If Shorey plays today I'd expect him to be offered a one year contract.
      Gone a bit quiet now....boring !!

Interesting that Malone and Wright started, two attacking players that i figured might be right up SL's street.
