Harford fully committed to Millwall despite Newcastle talks

STEVE Lomas insists Mick Harford is "fully committed" to his job at Millwall despite holding talks with Newcastle United about a role at St James' Park.

Harford, who only joined Lomas' backroom staff last month, has turned down the opportunity to become director of football Joe Kinnear's assistant on Tyneside.

Lomas said: "Mick worked with Joe before but I can assure you he is fully committed here. He wasn't at the Gillingham game on Saturday because he was out looking at Ipswich."

Harford told Sky Sports: "After meeting with Mike Ashley and Joe Kinnear, I made the hard decision that it is not the right time for me to take up this role.

"It was an honour to be asked to work at a fantastic club and I have the utmost respect for the Newcastle United and its fans. I am currently enjoying a role helping out at Millwall, but would like to thank Mike Ashley and Joe Kinnear for the opportunity."

I will repost this as I had just put it on a previous thread! Harford has rejected the job at Newcastle as he wants to continue his work with us, SL it seems has really got everyone on board with the future plans for the club it seems. It would have been so easy for MH to accept the 10 year contract worth millions, then sacked before next season!

Had me worried for a moment, cos I thought that he would break up one of the heaviest coaching teams in football along with Kevin Pressmen, but know Mick is keeping it together that's good news for Millwall and the local takeaways.

Not being funny, but with the Big-Top Fiasco that is Newcasle Utd, you'd have to be called Zippo or Coco to wanna work there..... Maybe Harford was being considered as a Lion tamer...boom boom

It says something about how bad things are at Newcastle and how things are potentially looking at ' Wall that we are a more attractive proposition!

Good. Now we've got that little blip out of the way we can all concentrate on what we're getting paid for.

Well done Mick. It's good to see there are still football people about instead of just gold diggers.
