Stoke midfielder linked with Millwall dismisses speculation

STOKE City winger Matthew Etherington, who has been linked with a summer move to Millwall in the national press, says there is a "no truth" in the reports.

Lions boss Steve Lomas knows Etherington from their playing days together at West Ham, and the 31-year-old is likely to be on the fringes at the Potters this season.

But Etherington told The Sentinel: "I have not heard anything from anyone. No one has contacted me and there is no truth in the stories as far as I am concerned.

"I am back in training with the rest of the squad on Monday and will take it from there. All the players will be looking to impress the new manager and I am no different."

      @Old_Les: personally I think 'aldi' (top class wit by the way) does a great job with this site. Considering the mainstream media have nothing to offer millwall supporters in terms of rumours, news and goings on within the club, and morons who troll the other crap millwall blog sites, we have a real necessity here. As for this ridiculous rumour, it was started by one of the drivel papers in the first place, news at 'Ben' have now clarified this to be nonsense. Quite frankly, I'm glad I have this site available instead of having to wait every month for the lion roars, I suggest if it pisses you off toooo much then kindly bore off to one of the other cynical moaning millwall chat rooms and annoy people on there. Or appreciate what you got and encourage an aspiring journalist who has the millwall supporters at heart instead of the ignorant clowns that criticise us constantly.

      @Old_Les:

      This site is a site where one can find consolidated stories from the press regarding Millwall. Therefore, as the player in question was linked to Millwall in some areas of the press, it is a valid story to be published.

      If you don't like what is put on this site and would rather read more gutter-level drivel about Doreen Lawrence, exgaggerated lies about hooligan exploits and ad infinum posts about Islam you know where to go but for the majority of us what we get on this site is perfect for our needs.

      @Old_Les: Personally I find this site to be a god send!! i'm a lifelong Millwall supporter living on the south coast in Devon - I get up to games but the South London Press and Southwark News don't make it this far!! Aldo's reporting is great - if its not on his Twitter or on here its not worth hearing about!! I don't think its right to be putting him or the site down when everything that appears on here IS very much relevant to the club I love!! COYL

    We ain't signing him, lomas confirmed he's out of our budget. Also DNG 'given a clean slate' according to lomas in the newshopper. Dunno if lomas is aware but I can run around off the pace and 'controlling' the ball with everything but my feet. Just saying if your interested SL

    I think it right that SL should be giving every player a fair chance of proving themselves before making any hasty decision on a particular players future. The manager has to build up team spirit which is vital to success. Let the manager get on with his job - his way. I would love to know what impression the team have of him so far. The relationship between staff and players is essential in building a positive atmosphere which transaltes to +100% effort on the pitch..and giving us the supporters a lot to be cheerful about. Love to see a new striker or two though.

    DNG is gonna have t score 20+ goals (No chance, he headed wide on two occasions last season when confronted with an open goal), up his work rate, show better attitiude when fighting for the team (Which he started doing last season then stopped!) and improve his control to ever get a clean slate. It's a lot to ask off a bloke that is prone to sulking mid-game and could have cost us a game that could have sent us down last season... DNG, we will not forget your badly timed-on pitch-selfish arsed-hissy fit. clean slate....no from my seat!

      Just seen Ben May coming out of B&Q with a toilet seat around his neck. He said he's going to give it to DNG because he knows he's s*** as well.

    Like everyone says Lomas is going to give every player a fair crack of the whip and rightly so,because as soon as he finds out DNG is dog turd he will be gone!
    I like SL style at the moment,giving players that would possibly be signing an ultimatum,sign in 48 hrs or don't bother is what we need,a good kick up the backside for any prima Donna player thinking of coming to The Den.
