Lomas insists Harris' Millwall comeback is not a PR stunt

STEVE Lomas insists the addition of Neil Harris to his coaching staff is not a PR move to appease fans.

Harris will form an integral part of Lomas' backroom team and began his new role on the first day of pre-season this week.

Lomas said: "That's just not true, saying I have brought Neil in to please people – that's disrespectful to me and to him. I want a good mix on the staff of hunger and experience, because when you get that I think things work well.

"Neil knows the club, he's a good sounding board and he's an intelligent man. He knows the game, he's hungry and he knows players."

Meanwhile, fitness expert Alan Pearson is helping Lomas put the players through their paces this summer.

"Alan is in helping us with pre-season," Lomas said. "He is somebody that I know and somebody that I've worked with. He's a big character.

"I want the training ground vibrant. It's not rocket science – we have to be organised and stimulate the lads. It's all about them – the players and the fans."

Pearson owns SAQ International, a company that provides "innovative and bespoke training consultancy", and worked with Lomas during his time at St Johnstone.

We all know its not a publicity stunt. Lomas is not going to put his reputation on the line.
I think we're low on news hence this report. Next, we'll be hearing how well the grass is growing on the pitch.

@Alex Aldridge: Find it hard to get my head around..... club legend, record goalscorer, adored by the supporters.... I'd say it was the natural move - regardless of who is the manager I always thought NH would be back in a coaching role one day!! PR stunt... if anything would the sponsor being a charity not be the PR stunt if there was one?!

No justification needed for me. I find it strange anyone would think a retired player coaching at a club he played for so posthumously is in any way a stunt. Move on case closed, well done SL...

@Swanny: Yes, I agree Swanny. I think Harris may well have been mentioned before Lomas even took over but then again I may be wrong.

@Swanny: Actually I think I can speak for all of us when I say I'm glad he played for us as a living breathing top class footballer, rather than posthumously! Unless his goals came from his ability to ghost in unseen from the great stadium in the sky. Sorry, am I being ghoulish?
