TAMIKA Mkandawire has signed a deal with League One side Shrewsbury Town after Millwall opted not to renew his contract at The Den.

Mkandawire, who had two separate loan spells at Southend United last season, will work under manager Graham Turner, who was also in charge during his four years at Hereford.

He said:  "The move had been in the mix for a little while but there was a lot for me to contemplate, obviously moving from London, but it's the right decision for me and my wife and we've got a child on the way.

"I'm very much looking forward to moving to the area and playing for Shrewsbury."

Personally, I'm sorry to see Tam go cos he was a really good player for us until his injury. I wish him the best of luck at Shrewsbury.

@TheBermondseyBomber: Other clubs want players like Batt and Mkandawire - I reckon the only way we're going to get shot of N'Guessan is to pay off the rest of his contract.

Good player but the injury obviously took it's toll. Like Batt, I'm sure Tam will be remembered fondly down The Den - good luck mate

I will be a lot happier when we start reading that the likes of Wollyford & N'GuessNot get the chop. The likes of Tam & Batt needed to go but at at least those boys had some b*******......

Windy, Won't be long before they're gone. I'm going for Brentford or Gillingham.

Personally i think we have been out order to him. He came and in his first season was brilliant and got player of year. 2nd Season got injured which cant helped and last season Jackett loaned him to Southend twice and our midfield was pants last year we should have used and is also quality defender i think better than beevers.

A real shame. He was absolute quality in that first season back in the Championship, and he's been denied a decent few years of higher level football and wedge by his awful luck with injuries. Shrewsbury have got themselves a serious player at that level. Assume he's gone there as he started at West Brom and played for Hereford for ages, so must have a house, family, mates etc in that part of the world.

Best thing about Lomas is his no nonsense attitude, we've definitely got to get rid of the crap like n'guessan and woolford to free up some wages and then Lomas can do some damage on the transfer market. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a promo slot. So excited for the new season! COYL!

Watched Tam playing for Southend at Wembley against Crewe, looked shadow of the player he once was. A real shame cos he looked very decent when fit for us. Injuries played their role, I just hope he can avoid any more and get a decent run out for STFC
Good luck to him I say and thnx for being a good Wall player.
