MILLWALL will play Spanish side Rayo Vallecano in Paul Robinson's testimonial match at The Den on July 27.

The Madrid-based La Liga club have agreed to be the opponents for Robinson's benefit game – and for new manager Steve Lomas' first home clash in charge.

Robinson told the club's official site: "I'm delighted to have this fixture for my testimonial. Rayo are a very good side and will provide us with an extremely competitive outing the week before the Championship season kicks-off.

"Not only will Lions fans have the chance to see us test ourselves against top Spanish opponents, but this will be the first opportunity for our new manager to take charge of the team at The Den, and doubtless there will be a number of new signings on view as well.

"Personally, I am working very hard on my fitness so that I can play a major role, not only in this game but in a very important season coming up for the club as well. I'm really looking forward to it, and to seeing everyone again on the eve of the new campaign."

Totally agree Big M great servant for the club and a model pro. Hope he can figure in the new season, has been out a long time though. Wish him all the luck.

Has he not been paid well while playing and while he has been out injured, this has never made sense to me. Yes a good sevant but also a well paid one as well.

@lomas a ledgend: I don't know the details of his pay, but if you follow football you will know that a testimonial is a common practise to award long and loyal service which I believe Robbo fully deserves. Still if thats your opinion then who am I to question it?

@Sealion: Thank you Sealion it is my opinion, but as I said they are paid well for the job that we would all love to do, so I would understand if an injury ended the playing days early, but because you have been employed for so many years and the fans are expected to cough up to see a training game.

He wanted Arsenal in his testimonial. Clearly they blew him out. Robbo deserves his big day. He's a leader and real wall. Good luck to him

Robo, you deserve this testimonial for your great captaincy and your 100% comitment and dedication whilst playing, but I thought before your injury, and still do that you are a 1st division player and no better along with a number of our team!!!!!

I'm happy for him to have his testimonial! Couldn't we have got someone a bit better? Still, I will be there supporting the team! Good luck Robbo

We need you back Robbo, I see Robbo, Shittu and Beavers as three of the best CB's in our Division. Trick will be playing them all enough to keep them at the club. 352 formation maybe??? We would need to sign a couple of good wing backs to play that though.

Absolute legend love the man to bits and he more than deserves this game. Deserved a crack at the big time but shame he got injured and a shame he couldn't get the a*** n all for this game. Get back soon Robbo as we'll need ya next season.
